What did you want to be growing up?

Did you achieve it? I wanted to be a concert pianist or ballerina. Didnt achieve either unfotunately.

i wanted to be a stay at home mom of two girls close in age like me and my sister. for the most part I did :) i did have to work a little here and there but i got a few solid years straight of getting to stay at home and raise my kids. it was great :) besides that I never really had any serious ambitions

I wanted to be a teacher. And I was. First, in a public school, and when I was laid off, I joined a corporation and became one of their training instructors.

Never thought I'd live past the age of 20, so I didn't plan for anything beyond that.

@NoGamesTolerated When I was 8 years old I was hospitalised in a ward for kids with Brain tumours. There were 8 of us. The oldest was Mark, he was 21. He had been having issues since he was my age. I made good friends there, but by the time I was 15 I was the last survivor. And somehow I had the feeling that I would not live past the age of 20.. It was a horrible feeling.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up but I am pretty sure my present job isn't it.

I kind of wanted to be a lepidopterist at some point, travel the world and study species but of course that was just a silly dream. I'd still want to take pictures of various species around the world as a hobby though.

@SW-User Lol, that's so cute. Can I be Apatura iris? It's a forest butterfly that comes to a newcomer, flies around to observe and then flies away and disappears for hours before it comes back to "socialize" for another short while. 😆

nope. i wanted to be an airline stewardess. all the flight crashes changed that. Dad wanted me to be a nurse. The Richard Speck murders changed that. I wanted to be a teacher. nope.not that either

My "growing up" goals were short term. I wanted to be a high school football star. Then I wanted to be a college athlete. Finally I realized I had to make a living, so I wanted to be an engineer, and that's what I became.

A Scientist or an Engineer, but since both disciplines are highly mathematical and I was always weak at maths, that was out of the question.

I had to content myself with semi-skilled "shop-floor" work allied to those.

Never got the chance,
But my work included, welding, fixing machinery, driving machinery, even designing machinery, so I got more than what I wanted to be ❤️

I wanted to be a geologist or a rock star.

Neither of those things has happened, and neither has much of anything else. Still no career, no idea what I want to do with the rest of my life, and no idea where I would find the energy to worry about it anyway 🙃

I only ever wanted to help people. And sometimes I do so that's good! 😊

I still think I'd make a good therapist or counsellor 90% of the time but my tendency to fall madly in love with people would not be a good fit for that role.

I've seen medical dramas when I was little and said I wanted to be a doctor, after years I decided that this childish dream was silly and unrealistic, yet I ended up as a dentist, still a doctor I guess.
