I no longer have him, but at the time, he was my best pet ever. I take some solace in, knowing he's probably just a stone's throw away. 🙂‍↕
His name was Sir Rocks-A-Lot I don't believe that was his real name, but that's what I called him. We had a rocky relationship, but I always knew we would boulder through. He was always my rock in hard times.

We had a watch goose for a few years. My youngest son took it to a pet fair at his school on a weekend., walking it on a leash. Until it saw all the dogs. At which point it climbed into my arms for security, pooping down the shirt and pants. The Principal took mercy and gave my son a ribbon for Most Unusual Pet before judging even started so we could get the heck out of there.

Now it is just an OCD cat.

We have a cat that thinks he's in 'The X Files'! He's called Mulder and is quite broody at times! Lol!

I don't have it now, but when I was younger I had a pet rhesus monkey.

I kept snails in a terrarium for a while as a kid. Not exotic in a sense they would be from a faraway country, just unusual.
YoMomma ·
Well it wasn't too unusual but it was a Quaker parrot and i miss him
FlowersInHerHair · 51-55, F
I dated a yankee for a few months.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@FlowersInHerHair What was that like?
FlowersInHerHair · 51-55, F
@Musicman As exhausting as the redneck.
Salamanders. My dad made me put them back into the wild, though.
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
I had a newt once. Back when I was really into reptiles and dinosaurs. Named it Zilla
Elessar · 31-35, M
For very short I housed a seagull once...
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Elessar I'm curious as to the story behind that.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@LordShadowfire It was a baby one, hardly capable of flying and injured, and it kept getting attacked by an adult one. Without intervention it would've probably been killed, so it was temporarily brought inside until a rehabber came to pick it up.

Technically the question mentions pets, I just noticed, so this doesn't strictly qualify, but it's for sure the most unconventional animal to cross the perimeter of my house lol
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Elessar I'm going to go ahead and count it, and amend my answer to include the baby alligator my parents brought into the house when I was 2 years old. They found it in the backyard, and knew that it wasn't native to Portland, so they put it in the kitchen sink and called animal control, who as I understand it determined it was somebody's illegal pet, and took it to a rehab facility.

Either a iguana or a tiny turtle. The iguana ran away. The turtle lasted a bit longer yet died eventually from being drunk off of morning glories! 😱

Nothing as exotic as a scorpion or homosapien. 😈
HumanEarth · F
I guess chickens
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@HumanEarth Ah, yes...
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
I had a pet duck

LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I had a scorpion for a while. But I wasn't allowed to keep her in the house, and I think she died of exposure.
Starchild1983 · 41-45, F
