Do you celebrate your birthday?

In a way, it falls on a holiday (Jan 1). When my friends or family have had New Year’s Eve parties, at midnight they’ve often surprised me with a birthday cake or gifts.

Of course I do. Birthdays are sacred where I live.

Yes. I would love it if my son remembered my birthday and took me out...but I've come to realize that he probably won't, and I save money, now, and take myself out for a nice meal.

Not really celebrated since losing a parent. Also not in a position to justify spending money on myself.

Not really. Never had. Not even as a child, since we either were living remotely or I was bed-ridden or both. But my kids and daughters-in-law made up for it last month with a wonderful weekend in a VRBO in Sonoma Wine & Olive country including extended family flying in for my 85th. Wonderful weekend. Forever grateful for family.

Yep. If it falls on a weekday, I take the day off and do something that feeds my soul. It’s less of a freebie on a weekend because I’m not alone, but there are things I like that I can drag others along without ruining their day so I just pick those.

Your birthday is one of the only non-commercial days we all get. Christmas is fake, Easter is fake, Halloween is fake.. what else is there to celebrate? It's all put together to convince you to spend money, but your birthday is yours alone.

No. It is always around or on Thanksgiving, so it is part of our Thanksgiving celebration. My wife did make me a delicious coconut cake this year, for the first time in many years.
