Hey, at least you recognise it could be an issue - that’s a good start! 😎👍

Try exercise , it works better
4meAndyou · F
@TexChik I have heard that runners become addicted to the natural endorphins their own bodies produce! Sounds much more healthy than drinking!
TexChik · F
@4meAndyou yes . Endorphins are amazing . They help me cope with my PTSD.

being an alcoholic is not something you become--it is usually genetic and then life stress or situations bring out what is already there. I grew up with an abusive alcoholic father and I know I am an addict as well. My son was a drug addict. My son and I realize that and have taken steps to live with it--treatment, meetings and not taking drugs or alcohol. My advice is find people to talk with, a counselor or someone who can listen and help.
Docdon23 · M
@Gangstress Yes. It is very difficulkt to do it alone. There are also free group meetings that really can help, sharing experiences and ways to live sober. AA, NA, etc.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@Docdon23 yeh I am really interested in the group meetings, I think this could put things back into perspective.
My dad was an alcoholic, I can see the trend I am forming and its not good to see

@Gangstress Look up AA. They have meetings all over the place. They are free/ You can go and just listen--or share. They are very accepting. It is one of the most successful ways people learn to live with alcoholism. I went for many years and no longer have any interest in alcohol or drugs. I have learned to find joy in life without it, and in fact life is more joy than I ever had...and no hangovers, no headaches, no forgetting what I did or said, no mistreating others when drunk, no drunk driving, no hurting others or myself, no embarrassing next days, no dependence...

Sounds like you are using the alcohol as a crutch, instead of addressing your stress in a healthy way. Did you know that you can achieve almost the same relaxed feeling by taking a hot, hot soak in the bath tub? I used to practically LIVE in the bathtub when I was married to the 3rd ex...🤣. JK!!
Gangstress · 41-45, F
I have gone through the same.
I crave for alcohol.
But it is a depressant.
I have managed 2 days without so far.
But its stress for me too. Its like a go to for me
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
This was happening to me and it’s good you are aware of it

I started replacing my bad habits with good ones. I crochet so when I was going through this I started buying a lot of yarn and I even bought the ingredients to start making soap. I spent about $100 in just one day buying a bunch of crafty stuff for me to do

I haven’t drank since. This happened a few months ago. I was very sad and that’s NOT how you fix your problems 😔
Teslin · M
If your worried about that, just change your drink to water or juice. It works!!!
Rambler · 61-69, M
I used to do that too, and it wasn't good. Take care of yourself..

Yes. It also matters what you do while drinking and whether you drink alone as many resort to alcohol for company. So busy your loneliness and don't get home soon after work. If you're drinking outside look for a friend to talk to or chill out. It may also be a good idea to go for a movie or some activity that will rob the spare time from you..

And most importantly analyse why there is so much stress at work and why things go wrong .. it may be a good idea to talk to your manager about it so the workflow is reviewed.

Alcohol can affect your work next day too .. and condition can deteriorate.

I Love drinking. Beer mostly. Partly to get myself drunk from the reality... honestly.. there would be days i am so hung over that i couldnt do anything else...

Manage to kick it off after a while, it was tough process but I took it as a challenge. Now.. funny as it maybe, i took up a new favorite drink.. Avocado milkshake.

drinking is not a problem... Excessive drinking is. it will only take your problems off just for that while but not a long term solution!

Stay strong alright?

Please find a healthy coping mechanism.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I would have to agree drinking like this isn't healthy at all
Muldoon · 56-60, M
We all need to decompress.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
If you are continually turning to alcohol because of your feelings and you recognize that it may be a problem, you should cut back.
Lilnonames · F
