This is probably a really dumb question about evolution (and forgive me if it is) but

How come some animals haven't evolved since dinosaur times?

Like crocodiles and horseshoe crabs? (I think) ?

They've already found a successful basic design. New species of this design arise(evolution) as others become extinct, but they never had a reason to become radically different. The species of crocodilians today didn't exist during dinosaur times

@deadgerbil very good answer, BA
Random mutations only become more prominent if they increase the chances of survival of an organism. The species you mentioned are already pretty good at that, so not a whole lot of accidental changes are an improvement. Most will probably decrease the survival rate, so they die with the first organism developing them.

@NerdyPotato

Now there's an intelligent answer 👌

Why didn't I think of that 🤔

Oh yah ,,, cuz my brain opted to mutate to dumb aas remarks instead of real intelligent functionality...

They probably have we just have not noticed the tiny changes , takes millions of years to dramatically change something.

Wolves to dogs?

@Fishy everything evolves. Look up ancient crocodiles and none of them are alive today bc they went extinct and or evolved into extant crocodilians

@deadgerbil but but, nature documentaries 👀
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Fishy I'm guessing they're poorly worded/ambiguous documentaries, which allows for bad interpretations to be derived from them
