This is probably a really dumb question about evolution (and forgive me if it is) but

How come some animals haven't evolved since dinosaur times?

Like crocodiles and horseshoe crabs? (I think) ?

Random mutations only become more prominent if they increase the chances of survival of an organism. The species you mentioned are already pretty good at that, so not a whole lot of accidental changes are an improvement. Most will probably decrease the survival rate, so they die with the first organism developing them.
