I think 2 year of college

robertsnj · 56-60, M
4 year college degree
4meAndyou · F
Although I attended college for more than 6 years, I kept switching majors and never actually received a degree. I majored in Art at University of Hartford Art School, majored in Geography at Framingham state, (an interim measure so that I could transfer after completing my academic requirements), majored in Design at Massachusetts College of Art, transferred majors to print making, then dropped out because the degree was getting farther and farther away and I was done.

When I was older I took a course in accounting at Fisher college, and dropped that course. Math is NOT my strong suit. I hired a tutor, and even with her helping me, we BOTH had problems getting things right.

THEN I took one wildly expensive course in jewelry making at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston...and after that, I was working all the time and had no time for fooling around.

@DrWatson But you will be happy to know that it runs in my family, and I have a cousin on my father's side who is both a designer and an illustrator. SHE is VERY good. I am far more talented in 3 dimensions. I was not allowed to major in sculpture, however. My father said I could not earn a living doing that. He was controlling my majors.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou That was short sighted on his part. Many people, including our daughter, end up in careers unrelated to their major.
4meAndyou · F
@DrWatson He was thinking about his grandson, who was supremely important to him. He wanted me to hold down a good paying job so that I could support him.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Trying to raise a teenage girl 🙂
@SunshineGirl After seeing quite a few teenage cousins as teenagers, where do I send your hope you're staying sane card?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F

@Dusty101 Geography? You must not be American 🤔.
Dusty101 · F
@SW-User nope Irish. Born and raised. However we lived in New York when I was a kid for a bit and then I lived there again when I was 20.
Straight out of MIT grad school I was working a hotdog stand. Running the cotton candy machine, the intertwining of its filaments inspired my Phd paper on String Theory. Soon after, I was offered a position as a research fellow at CERN on the
Higgs-Bozon particle accelerator. For which I earned the Fields Medal in mathematics.
@SethGreene531 Cool! What was your course at MIT?
@ElwoodBlues Quantum Information Theory

Measurement and Control with a quantum entanglement subspecialty won the position at CERN.

I got up to 12th grade but I dropped out so I never actually graduated. So no diploma & no GED. I'm practically uneducated.

I think I'm pretty smart but I guess I just don't follow the standard
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@ChiefJustWalks What led you to drop out so close to graduation?
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
Self education after graduating High School.
@Sidewinder Exactly. The public library is the best university. Plus, it's free.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@flipper1966 Also, learning lasts a lifetime.
@flipper1966 I had access to a university library for a while from 11 to 13, my mother was secretary to the Dean of Students.
Bleak · 36-40, F

Rolexeo · 26-30, M
Got up to the end of 12th grade and dropped out to get my GED. I had too much assignments I had to make up. I was told I could take the test right away, but they made me do 6 months of remedial courses for the test. Wasn't necessary, barely showed up, test was easy. Should've just did the assignments.

I went to the local community college and was about 4 courses short of my degree when the economy crashed in 2008. After that I couldn't afford to continue. When I could I couldn't force myself to go back and finish.
High school general diploma.
