Skipping a couple math steps to convert to percent the easy answer is below:

Bills - 800/2500 = 32%
Food - 300/2500 = 12%
Total - 1100/2500 = 44%

It’s 44percent, saucy. Here’s a really easy way. First add your food and bills. 800+300 is 1100. And so your question is “1100 is what percent of 2500?” Which looks like this : 1100 = x/100 * 2500.
So you’ll divide both side by 100 to get rid of that fraction. 110000= x*2500. And then divide both by 2500 to get x alone. X=44 🙂

((800+300)/2500)*100 = 44 %
But the problem is poorly worded. You cannot separate food and bills in the beginning then call them all "bills" at the end.

$800 + $300 = $1,100 -----> Your total expenses.

$1,100 / $2,500 = 0.44 OR 44% -----> The percentage of your income that goes into expenses.

If you want to calculate the percentage that 1100 from 2500 represents, just divide 1100 by 2500 which gives you 0.44 or 44%.

How ? if I may ask does a couple at your age have bills totalling 800 per month ?
