Tired and depressed

@AthrillatheHunt Allah asks, Tired and depressed, what do you want?

cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
I never had my level tested. But there was a period of almost 2 years that my bones hurt. I already have arthritis and I thought it was getting worse. It hurt bad enough that I had gotten very inactive, complaining about the pain. I can’t take OTC painkillers due to having a sensitive stomach. I finally watched a video that Dr. Berg made and got some good information. I don’t consume cow’s milk except to cook with and was drinking some (not enough apparently) almond milk and eating cheese occasionally so figured maybe my vitamin D was low, also needed Vitamin K and got a combo. Also heard about Boron supplements and Moringa leaf powder. Started taking all 3 and the pain was much less within a week and gone completely within 2 weeks. Hasn’t returned. Had a bone density test done in 2024 and the test results were very good.
@cherokeepatti I don’t drink cows milk either - just the odd time maybe, and had many of those symptoms too. I thought it was perimenopause. Maybe it is. Idk. I just started supplements and we will have to see if my hip, back and shoulder pain go away. I would wake up feeling like I’m 90.

@DoubleRings I felt old too. And tired all the time. Felt a whole lot better after taking the supplements. My entire body was racked with pain.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
Me, recently. D & B12
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Jenny1234 no offense please, do your own due diligence.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@samueltyler2 who are you 😂😂
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@nobodyishome a retired preventive medicine physician, why do you want to know?
Wow 50,000! Thats a large dose
@TryingtoLava I know! I wanna ask how low it really was! Must have been bad!
AthrillatheHunt · 56-60, M
@DoubleRings they put you on a 50k dose once weekly for 8 weeks to get levels back to normal.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
Mine was just tired, always
Subsumedpat · 41-45, M
An hour of sun exposure can produce between 10,000 to 25,000 IU of vitamin D if a large portion of your body is exposed.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
I take a 1000 mg capsule in the morning and another one at night. My Dr suggested it, that was yes ago.

Depression, fatigue, dizziness, blood sugar drop

There is some data that low vit D levels relate to increased rates of cancers, etc. But the side effect of supplementing vitD leads to kidney stones, etc
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DoubleRings i spent a lot of my medical career in preventive medicine. A.New England Journal of Medicine article a few years ago showed no improvement from.supplementation and significant numbers of cases of kidney stones.
@samueltyler2 I didn’t think to ask what the level was that I tested at. I do feel it accounted for a lot of aches I was feeling. I hope it goes away bc many joints just felt sooooo rusty and I’m not even 50.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DoubleRings if you feel better and have no side effects, and your physician monitors your calcium levels, then i wouldn't argue against it. The reports are really not definitive as to risk:benefit. My natural inclination is always to be very conservative. I am a therapeutic nihilist after so many years as a toxicologist.

I do wish you a long, healthy life.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
No symptoms, but always diagnosed. Had one doctor comment "Everyone has low Vitamin D."
@ChipmunkErnie this makes sense. Especially where I live. My brother also got diagnosed but just needs a daily supplement not a prescription. Me, I’ve been feeling terrible for some time. So must have been really low.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I take a small supplement, nowhere near yours. No specific symptoms. Now iron, I had low iron and I felt like crap.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Depression, low motivation to do anything, low energy, hyperparathyroidism as a result of low vitamin D - irritability, restlessness, jumpiness, nervousness, anxiety
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
I read it's best to get your vitamin D from the sun. Supplements aren't absorbed into the body as well and therefore most of it just passes through
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Jayciedubb Maybe if you are consistent with spending time outdoors during sunny days but I feel better with regular use of supplements.
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
I started taking vitamin B supplements because I was low, and then added vitamin D. They both help but it’s something you only notice once you get “better”. The symptoms are just a general malaise.
