I had cancer by the end of 2020. Made Covid feel like an afterthought.
All it did was keep my family from being with me in the hospital. Now we know that wasn't necessary. Honestly, it still pisses me off.

@zane333 Oh wow, Jeff Bridges dealt with cancer , I want to say about a year into COVID. He said he had cancer, and he had COVID, and COVID was worse. 😨 But that's not true of course for all, there's different types cancer. What type did you have? I'm sorry you dealt with it🌼 are you in remission?

It was a bad time. It took my uncle.
I felt like a bad nephew, since I had not seen or even spoken to him in over ten years.
Grandma then said he was in the hospital with Covid. Then she said he was getting better. Then he was gone. Quite shocking because we thought he was getting better. So sudden.
Grandma has lost her husband and two of her children already. She is still hanging on, though. She is VERY old.

My mom's funeral was two days before everything shut down and I had a kindergartner full time. I didn't get to grieve. I didn't get hugs. I didn't mind the isolation, just wasn't good for me after just losing my mom

@ScreamingFox That really sucks. Here's a huge hug for then and now 🫂🩷

Pandemics are more frequent that people realise, so I guess it wasn’t that surprising. What shocked me was just how unprepared governments were.

@samueltyler2 I was aware this happened, but then this was the same person who suggested that injecting bleach was a possibility…so, yeah.
However, it wasn’t just the USA, countries worldwide were woefully unprepared.
Shocking really when a serious pandemic is expected every 100 years or so. COVID came when expected - the last major outbreak was 1918-20 (Spanish flu, which killed 50+ million).

@Fizzle He has done so much damage to so many programs and people. The mRNA research is so groundbreaking, it is the future for cancer therapy, disease preventing vaccines, etc.
while it wasn't just the US, the US was the leader, the CDC was the shining beacon for science and disease prevention, until Trump destroyed it!
if you are interested, read Barry's book, The Influenza. My department of preventive medicine made it required reading.
Do you work in the field? Care to PM?

@samueltyler2 thanks for the recommendation, it’s appreciated 🙂

Almost seems now like it was some kind of test, to see where people fell on some things, it cost many people their close friends and so on, especially in the church communities, over cancelled services due to social distancing.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@BooksRMe really, that upsets you but not the over a million US lives?

My first Covid post, 7th February 2020
Just watched an Asian resident come home, wheeling a suitcase, she was wearing a mask
Oh no, Coronary Virus has come to my street😱😷

Took a break from watching the news for a while. Since the media was going overboard
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
In 2018 or 2019 there was some deadly virus that came out of the African Continent and the quarantined a few places. The News was hyping up the story and then all of sudden nothing... It was a good test run for things to come.

It was awful in so many ways..
The Military-Industrial Complex, in particular Big Pharma!

People who want to kill us, just like 9/11. Very few people saw that one coming, either.
And no one likes to admit it, but we never recover fully each time we take a hit like that. Sad but true.
Evil is real. So is hate. Keep your eyes open.

The worst part is it was man made and man released. So many businesses and lives ruined. Of course no one took responsibility. I'm not sure if the vaccine was worse than the disease. I hope we never have to live through anything like this again.

@samueltyler2 I'm with you on this. There is no empirical evidence of where Covid started - I'm content to leave it at that.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ArtieKat agree, blaming it on some unseen cause, will only prevent anyone from preparing for the next, inevitable, outbreak.

@samueltyler2 Yes 👍
