Is anyone having a pretty awful October?

My sister found out today at an appointment, she has ketoacidosis, where blood sugars are so high they make the blood acidic. She's had it before, but it's harrowing..days in the hospital on an insulin IV. She is heading into the hospital in the morning.

My dad who is bed bound in a nursing home, has rashes on his back so bad, from laying constantly on back, they're bleeding. He will probably head into the hospital Thursday, as well.

And my mammogram came back with a slight dense area, TYPICALLY benign or cysts, (but it's not absolute.) I had to cancel my reimaging tomorrow to be with my sister. I am nervous of cancer... But luckily there are cysts there last year, benign. But all this presenting itself in a week or two is feeling daunting. 😧
Anyone else having a rocky fall?

I’m sorry to hear that you and your family members are having a rough time. I had a mammogram that showed dense tissue and the doctor did another test and said it was a cyst that should heal on its own. I started eating more broccoli, kale and cabbage after reading that could help detox and destroy those cysts and the next mammogram came back clear. Also coffee can cause them and I stopped drinking that as well.

Considering that I have cancer I’m feeling really well. I think packing in a lot of veggies and other foods and drinks with anti-oxidants and other things that are helpful to cancer patients is a big part of that. I didn’t feel this good the first time around.

@Coralmist In 2023 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Went to a cancer center and had scans run and they also found a tumor on my adrenal gland, which turned out to be a completely different type of cancer. They removed it. I was also found to be pre-cancerous for endometrial cancer due to lining of it being too thick for someone my age. I had 12 rounds of chemo, 28 radiation treatments along with another 6 rounds of chemo and then a year ago I had surgeries to remove my colon tumor, a complete hysterectomy, some lymph glands in my groin etc. This cancer is from stem cells in the surgical area near where they repaired the colo-rectal area.

So sorry.

Everything is mostly OK with me. My health is improving. The only problem is being furloughed. I am a federal employee. So I cannot work right now and in a few days will stop receiving income.

Now, there is a law to pay us for the time we would have worked (which is a waste of taxpayer money, but I'll take it!). And I have ample savings. What worries me more is Trump is threatening to fire some of us, possibly in violation of due process and law, or also perhaps not pay us when they reopen for the time we were furloughed, also in violation of law.

On the bright side I have not had to work for a week. But I am starting to get bored. I cannot leave town and I would not want to spend money, anyway. I feel like a retired person now, without the pension and travel.

Another annoying thing is that when I do go back to work, all my work will have been delayed, yet some schedules are still active, leading to a crush. Ugh.

I hope the health of you and your family improves.

A lot to handle. Be sure you take time for yourself. Plenty of sleep. All this stress is not good for anyone's body.
I hope both your sister and your dad get the care they need.

@Elisbch Thank you 🌟

@JoyfulSilence Thanks for your words. It's really frustrating everything that's going on under Trump. I just can't believe everything now. I wish you lots of luck that this doesn't affect you too long.

@Coralmist

I admit I do like my mini vacation.

I wish it were permanent, though, LOL!

Wow you suddenly have a lot to deal with..! I hope things turn up for your whole family sooner rather than later. I hope you can take care of yourself throughout this time💚
I'm still recovering from injuries myself, and I'm financially struggling.

I lost my future landlord the day before yesterday... I never met her in person, but it's hard adjusting to life without hearing her name every day.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Sorry my friend. Hope things get better. I also hope you recall my last message. :) love and peace to you.

There isn't a single, unifying event that is making everyone have a "pretty awful October"
. The experience is subjective and can vary greatly depending on a person's individual circumstances and location. However, several factors contribute to a sense of difficulty for many people during this time
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
I wouldn't care how I feel anymore most of the time. I give my stress and depression to God.
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
Mine is more of an existential crisis coming to a head. I’ll be fine in 11 more days, assuming the universe doesn’t claim me in the next 10.

You have survived and you Always will

Liquid diet for the whole month. I don't even want to talk about it.
