Do Vegans really live longer than meat eaters ?

Blondily · F
Well if I go veg I'll end up being like this in a nursing home, no thanks! 😆

Nimbus · M
@Blondily Wtf!
Me too ;)
Nah…it just seems like it.
Where’s my steak?
@Nimbus Whaaaat?
Nimbus · M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales It's been removed from the menu.
@Nimbus Watch them lose their regular patrons in droves and go bankrupt.
Ontheroad · M
Makes sense, but not specifically/only because they are vegan. Often you'll find vegans are more health conscious and have an active, health oriented life style overall.
Lilymoon · F
I mean it's possible what with all the crap they're putting into meat these days. 🤷‍♀️
Nimbus · M
@Lilymoon That's a point too!
Yes, but not specifically due to the meats.

Vegans on average watch what they eat and have a much healthier diet and are skinnier.

Those that eat meat can be the same exact ways.

It's just that the unhealthy diet people often aren't Vegans, which brings the meat eaters side down.

But I'm generally, too much or too little of everything is bad for you. Though some say the pescatarian diet is best for humans. But that includes health meats.
Either way, ain’t givin up my bacon. I still got 20 years. 😂

@Nimbus 🤔i thought ronaldo was a vegan when he played for manchester united as he spent a lot of time flat eating grass claiming he was fouled or to win an illegal penalty nimby lol
Nimbus · M
@smiler2012 Good point.
Talking of teeth do they have flouride in the water in Liverfool?

smiler2012 · 56-60
@Nimbus 😆nah the scousers have nick that too nimby you should know by now in liverpool if it is not nailed down it will get stolen in the end

🤔............On my Italian side of my family, all my great aunts and uncles all lived to be in their late 90's - 100's. My one great uncle lived to be 105. I don't think any of them were Vegans..........lol

Not in America. In America, even our fresh fruits and vegetables are contaminated with pesticides. So one should be getting their hopes up in the US.
AbbeyRhode · F
I don't buy it. And even if it were true, who'd WANT to live longer without steaks, ribs, or bacon???
Nimbus · M
@AbbeyRhode Great point, what a loss ;)
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
I’m interested in the sample population they used for this study.
Sevendays · M
Maybe but it isn't nearly as satisfying.
Nimbus · M
@Sevendays Good point.
Fertilization · 36-40, F
Still ppl wont stop being omnivores
Nimbus · M
@Fertilization Nope, that bacon is so attractive ;)
joe438 · 61-69, M
Without bacon, it only seems longer.
Nimbus · M
@joe438 I concur ;)
doubtful... i really really doubt that!
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
That doesn't make sense because most of the blue zones with the higher percentage of centenarians are meat eaters. Okinawans usually have 90 grams of meat daily and Hong Kong which is a blue zone commonly ignored by vegans usually have around 500 pounds of meat a year, average age is 86.

The study was done on vegetarians, not vegans but I find it's unfair to study any amount of meat eater in the States specifically because most are on the standard American diet. Vegetarians are more likely to make better choices where as SAD dieters are more likely to smoke, drink and intake high fructose corn syrup. Most of the people who are 100 years old and the media asks them what they ate was bacon and chocolate.

So I wonder how true the meme actually is and what study participates did they account for.
After I eat my steak, I will ask one. I eat so many vegetables lately. Cauliflower. Yuck. Butternut squash. Wtf? I can only eat the average ones. Salad is through the roof. I have cut back on red meat. Tired of fish. Chicken is nasty. Tired of ground beef. No more veggies. Vegans? Leave the room. Ha.
icedsky · 51-55, M
I dont buy it
Nimbus · M
@icedsky It does seem dubious.
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M
Vegans need to be investigated for murder

nedkelly · 61-69, M
No offence but this is a study by the Seventh-day Adventist
Not in the sense of 'living'
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
What was the sample size? Were smokers included? What about heavy drinkers or obese people? Too many variables.
Gumba1000 · M
I doubts there's much data regarding it. Only small samples rather than large sample data.
Who cares, other than the vegans?
