That doesn't make sense because most of the blue zones with the higher percentage of centenarians are meat eaters. Okinawans usually have 90 grams of meat daily and Hong Kong which is a blue zone commonly ignored by vegans usually have around 500 pounds of meat a year, average age is 86.

The study was done on vegetarians, not vegans but I find it's unfair to study any amount of meat eater in the States specifically because most are on the standard American diet. Vegetarians are more likely to make better choices where as SAD dieters are more likely to smoke, drink and intake high fructose corn syrup. Most of the people who are 100 years old and the media asks them what they ate was bacon and chocolate.

So I wonder how true the meme actually is and what study participates did they account for.
