Most vegetables, legumes and fruits I use are either from my farms or neighboring ones..meats and potatoes always from neighboring farms because the animals I raise aren't for meat. Just eggs and milk.
The grocery stores deliver rice, sometimes yogurt or sugar if I am planning to cook for guests and events, chocolates very rarely. Oh! And some imported spices and bicarbonate sodium and chemicals for cleaning. I do buy those in a bulk.
And sea foods from fishermen.
Sometimes the military gives me bulk stuff like powdered milk, flour...etc which I give away. because they contain gluten and additives and it is too much for one person.
learned not to trust my husband with shopping. told him to pick up a gallon of milk and if they have apples buy 6. he came home with 6 gallons of milk and said they had apples
Today I got 3 small yogurts, 4 packs of cheese, 3 small bags of frozen peas, 2 bundles of parsley, 2 very small butternut squash, and 2 gallons of milk. Was planning on getting 1 gallon of milk but Braum’s is running a sale of 2 gallons for $6 and this teenage boy can drink a lot before it expires.
@cherokeepatti Jane's younger son had a friend that could put down a gallon of milk away a day easy, he's going to have some serious gall or kidney stones soon
@Thrust if it’s concentrated in the pure form it has to be diluted. The amount on a the head of a pin can kill quickly even just touching it police have to go to the hospital. And imagine all the damage that fentanyl is doing to people who don’t die from it. Look at Philadelphia, that’s just one example. It will ruin society if it isn’t stopped.
@cherokeepatti i think what they found coming from mexico was in the thousands of pounds, and drugs from the states coming north was way more than what went south...it's a problem for all 3 countries, but for trump to point his country's drug problem solely on other countries is bs...
@NativePortlander1970 @meggie I often freeze shredded cheese and it's still good thawed out, melts nicely on tacos or in a macaroni dish . But I'm not sure if sliced cheese would taste as well thawed out from frozen.
@Baybreeze i only eat frozen cheese if it comes that way, like in a pizza. My bf freezes camemburt, Stilton and brie and says they taste as good. I only eat mature cheddar @NativePortlander1970
