yes its good. After your evening meal around 6pm, eat nothing else until you wake up in the morning. When people start losing weight by doing this they then are willing to cut their eating time down from 6A to 6P , to something like 6A to 1P. The weight falls off them. Doctors have guides for doing it in case you are worried about bad effects

It is the absolute best thing!! I’m down 30lbs since June 6. I usually don’t eat anything past 5 or 6 and not again the next day until after 1 or 2. Then depending on how my week goes and what plans are I try to do at least 2 a week where I do a full 24 hour fast. You might also look into what is called O.M.A.D. It means one meal a day. The only thing with that is you have to be sure your one meal contains fruits, some veggies, and is mostly protein because that will help you to fast longer and feel less hungry

Thanks for all the feedback-I appreciate it! A couple of you wanted to know the reason behind my question. I asked to get a broader series of experiences as the people I've spoken with locally have attributed their additional energy and heightened ability to focus to fasting. As someone who could use both and doesn't like to use meds unless necessary, the concept of fasting intrigued me.

Are you talking about for weight loss or other reasons?
For weight loss 16/8 is a regime that helps you consume less calories over a 24 period. You fast for 16 hours and only eat in the other 8. 5/2 is similar but over a week and limiting yourself to 500 calories on the two fast days isn't for everyone.
Basically in order to loose weight you have to run a calorie deficit diet. Put in less fuel than what you consume. As simple as that. Low carbohydrate high protein diets are very useful for achieving this. Sugar is your enemy and full fat (in moderation) your friend.

I am doing it now so far it's been okay it's a little rough I still get hungry. I hear after a couple of weeks it gets better.

@SlippingAway It does, and remember to be forgiving of yourself if you don’t sustain your fast for as long as you wanted.
I used to fast for religious reasons... and, as someone who has an eating disorder, I found that it made my eating disorder even worse.
I was lucky that I happened to be talking to a guy who was a father at the time. He noticed that the way that I was going longer and longer without eating wasn't good for me and he put the foundations in place that I would use to increase my eating again.
I will never fast again after that.

Everyone is different but I loved what it did for me mentally to fast for a day, but any other tricks on my body and hormones get all weird with it.

Just eat healthy and you wont have to worry about fasting. People annoy me with this stuff.

I think it depends on what kind of body one has.
I wouldn't recommend it to a slim person

I suppose the question is what is the purpose in the fast.
