I tend to eat emotionally too. But for the last month, i’m reducing my portions, adding more fruits. And when I feel craving to eat the junk food, I do the opposite, relish each bite of a fruit. I really love apples now. I also relish a cup of coffee every day.
Overeating is usually a form of escape — either from our thoughts or feelings. (Along with addiction to the taste of junk food.)
You have to find out for yourself what issues you’re trying to avoid.
For example, I started noticing that I steer towards junk food overeating when I’m angry or sad. So instead, now I sit with the anger and either talk to someone or write it down.
To replace overeating with something else, you first need to find out why you do it. And then try to fix that reason.
Like if you tend to overeat after a stressful long day, find activities that relax you. Like shower, or meditation.
If you overeat while watching something, stop watching for a while and see how it makes you feel.
Its all about experimenting and finding out what works for you.
Another example, I noticed I overeat with ketchup because I love its taste. So for the last few weeks, I threw away the ketchup and eating the same thing without ketchup just doesn’t taste as good. So it reduced my overeating. I replaced it with long walks because they make me feel good.
I recommend you read The Weight Escape by Ann Bailey, Joseph Ciarrochi, and Russ Harris. I have started noticing all these things after reading that book, and they have even more examples of figuring out why you overeat.

Before you eat have a large glass of water. Then every time you have a drink include another glass of water too. The water makes you feel fuller so you'll eat less. Eat steamed vegetables instead of fried. Make large bowls of salads with lots of different ingredients. Have fruit instead of deserts. Go for a walk after each meal.
I had to change my diet when diagnosed as possibly developing type 2 diabetes. I love my grub. Quite enjoyed some of the changes first forced upon me.
Ryvita Crackerbread with various toppings, eggs fried in Extra Virgin Olive Oil for brekkie.
Get yourself a couple of healthy eating cookbooks. Who knows, you might be on Masterchef next year.
😀
(Chocolate still a problem......)

does being overweight bring you pleasure as well? maybe replace the shitty food and overeating with exercise and a restricted diet. Being healthy and fit should be much more pleasurable
Fluffybull · F
@Torsten Agree. Exercise makes you feel good, physically and mentally.

Eat better healthier food less sugars and sodas
Fluffybull · F
@Lilnonames Agree! Also these foods are addictive and if you cut them out you'll enjoy fruit and non-processed foods much more

Sex?
Bri89 · 31-35, M
@LordShadowfire I am asexual so that wouldn't satisfy my desire.

Maybe that’s why you eat because you don’t have sex @Bri89
