Puts the extended family in a tight spot if things don't work out

robb65 · 56-60, M
I have a friend whose half sister (fathers daughter from a previous marriage) married my friends half brother (mothers son from a previous marriage). I'm reasonably sure they were grown before my friends father and mother got together. Seems a bit strange and people get this weird look when you try explaining how everyone's related. I wouldn't say it was wrong though.
@robb65 they were not born step siblings.. but in her case both have one parent in common.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
reminds me of a somewhat bizarre instance several years ago with someone I knew

friend got girlfriend preggers, both had single parents and didn't know about the relationship; meanwhile friends dad and his girlfriends mom were dating each other (unbeknownst to their kids) and eventually got married

probably an awkward family get together when they did find out... 🤔

so while it may seem taboo to many, technically no laws were broken since step-relations don't fall under incest...
I've known a couple who were step siblings and they seemed to do well. Their family had no issues with it since they aren't related.

Inconvenient and embarrassing in the family. As long as there is no blood relationship, I don’t see that it’s more than that. Things happen.

Is it like "grew up together" step-brother? Or "parents met and married when they were both adults" type step-brother?

If the first, yes it's wrong, if the second... still kinda queasy feeling.
bobalicious · 18-21, F
@SW-User Parents met and got together type step-brother.
mayguy · 51-55, M
@bobalicious They aren't blood-related so it should be ok huh?
RockVolleyGirl · 18-21, F
If they're in love, I don't think it's bad. If you would like to talk more about it, you can message me.
laurieluvsit · 31-35, F
Nothing wrong with it at all.

For the prudes who think so, what ever happened to the "Love is Love" motto?

It is silly to think there would be anything wrong with that in my view.
lissah · 36-40, F
@laurieluvsit you are so weird
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
I think it is one of the consequences of divorce and remarriage. There is no common blood so that isn't a problem.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
It is taboo by many people's standards. Personally I don't judge, so it's entirely her choice.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
If they met through their Parents as adults, meh, who cares, but if they grew up together or are blood-related, then that's just wrong. In the deep South, blood-related first cousins often get married and have babies together and that's wrong too... 😵‍💫
That's crazy but I know someone in the same situation lol
mayguy · 51-55, M
@DeliaSecret Huh what did they do? 🤔

wunderluv · 56-60, M
They is no issue if the two were involved before the parents got together.. just a funny quirk
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
I think it depends on what age they were when their parents got together.
It's fine. As long as they are consenting and legal. Even better they aren't even blood related.
YoMomma ·
My cousin about dated his step sister but it's kinda weird he also dated a stripper..
