In use as intended probably the cathedral place of worship from 600 and something. Current building dates back to at least early 12th century. There's a castle almost outside it's West Door and that is Norman too but no longer complete.
There are also a few Roman Villas and a small temple near by only the outlines of them.
A recent excavation about a mile from my house found evidence of an Iron Age settlement.
Parts of our parish church date back to the 12thC, although most of it was rebuilt in the 16thC. One of my neighbours lives in a house dating to the 1530s. Our own home is part of a building built in the 1820s.
several old hollowed out log cabins and foundations from late 1600's to early 1700's. As far as still functioning/being used, the local Inn was built in 1892
The Romans built the first walls around Canterbury, Kent in England between 270 and 290 AD. Very little of these Roman walls remain, but large sections survive of the medieval walls that replaced the Roman structure. The medieval walls surrounded the entire city of Canterbury and were pierced by eight gates, West Gate, North Gate, Quenin Gate, Burgate, Newingate, Riding Gate, Worth Gate, and London Gate. Of these, only West Gate remains.
@Dignaga Why do you need to triangulate my location when I literally just...
