No, it's illegal to arrest people before their day in court, or have been allowed to stay after their court hearing.
Policing the country is not the role of the federal government. Neither the FBI, CIA, nor Homeland Security are in place to police America. They are in place to investigate different levels of crimes, including federal crimes.

@calicuz wait, the FBI does have law enforcement as routine, but in my experience, always in cooperation with local law enforcement. Response to local crime is not usually in their wheelhouse.

I don't understand if they have a court appearance doesn't that mean they are already under charges ? Unless they are there to protest or with family in that case yes ,is there special place where criminals go to be arrested?
calicuz · 56-60, M
@kodiac
No, not necessarily. In many cases the immigrant didn't fill out paperwork properly or took too long to file paperwork. The immigrant seeking citizenship would then have to go to court to prove that they are making efforts to satisfy the immigration department.
Only an immigration judge can extend the visa of an immigrant to allow time to process late paperwork. These immigrants are making legitimate efforts to satisfy the immigration departments legal demands.
"The law" is literally Democracy, and democracy is very slow.
Not to mention, it is not the role of the White House to police the American people nor anyone seeking American citizenship. That role belongs to the Immigration Department.

I do not. They need to be given a hearing first.
If there is a good chance they will be arrested before given a chance to state their case, there wouldn't be any reason to go to court to begin with.

Anything I want to write about ICE can't really be repeated on social media.

Yes, these are criminal courts this means they have been in a place where they were charged with some crime. The rules for immigration is you must stay out of any trouble.

NO, of course NOT!
Adstar · 56-60, M
Thats a smart tactic.. Good idea..

I find it odd that they wear masks
@SkeetSkeet I don't. Most people who do something illegal wear a mask in the process.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
Anywhere, anytime! They have the opportunity to self- deport, with a free plane ride and $1000. So, if they choose to stay, they take the chance of getting arrested, deported, and no chance to ever return legally!
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
Absolutely not! They have a right to a trial!

Defend themselves for what?

No, sounds like 1930s Germany to me.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Why not! They have broken the law. They wil. Get a day in court
bijouxbroussard · F
No. That definitely goes against due process and our Constitution.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
Yes or anywhere else illegals are.
Joseph8284 · 18-21, M
Yup! A fugitive is subject to arrest anywhere!
bijouxbroussard · F
@Joseph8284 When there’s a suspect, sure. But not when it means throwing out a random dragnet and snatching up everyone who "looks Hispanic". That’s racist, and it’s why they’d stopped doing it that way before, because U.S. citizens were getting pulled in by accident.
And now that’s happening again. 🥺
