Canada so far.

Ireland, for sure. I have never met such kind and friendly people. A family who were related to the Doyle family in the USA took us to their hearts, just because my parents were friends of the Doyles.

The little Grandmother wanted to hold my hand, and she would NOT let go! 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been lucky. I was treated well in Canada, England and France. People are always surprised at that last one but I’m glad I went before I heard about the reputation. I went with no preconceived ideas or attitudes—I was polite and the people I encountered were kind in turn.

@bijouxbroussard Yes bijoux, that was my experience of France too,on three separate visits over the years.I have some familiarity with the French language,so that of course helps, but I get the impression that many who give the country bad reviews make little or no attempt to use even very basic French;knowing when to say "bonjour", "merci beaucoup" etc.certainly helps.

I haven't done much traveling, but I've been to Mexico several times and everyone there is always very helpful and kind. I have relatives there as well, so it's my home-away-from-home.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have only been to Canada, Mexico (not the tourist places), France, and Spain. We experienced friendliness and hospitality in all four.

My wife speaks French, and although my Spanish is very rusty today, at the time I could hold a conversation.
I’ve found that any country where I’ve been nice has had the nicest people. If I had to pick one, I’d say Thailand but for the most part I’ve been blessed wherever I’ve traveled.

Ireland, although most countries I've visited had more 'nice' people than not.
sunnudenow · 70-79, M
@Piper That has been my experience too! Ireland was like home.
Piper · 61-69, F
@sunnudenow I had that feeling too, when I first exited the airport before anyone else I was with.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I've never travelled in a way where the niceness or lack thereof was particularly noteworthy. That said I hear that MENA countries have the best hospitality on the planet.
americans and mexicans have always treated me pretty well every time i've visited.
The Canadians up in the Banff up to Jasper area were great, especially up in Jasper. Really loved it there.

I've never really been outside the country.
The nicest state/city in my country seem to have been Raleigh, South Carolina followed by Fernwood ,Idaho.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I've only ever been to New Zealand. I met a lot of nice people there
exexec · 70-79, C
People have been nice everywhere I have been. I suppose the folks in rural England were the nicest.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Been only two Mexico and Germany. Yet suspect most of the Western world is pretty much the same.

There are countries that I wouldn't classify as friendly, even though I have never been in them
Matt85 · 36-40, M
I hear Jamaicans are nice.
Cigarguy · 41-45, M

In all of my years of life, I have only ever visited one foreign country. So Canada would be my answer.
Northerner · 70-79, M
The Gambia. very welcoming people.

Spain , by far the friendliest. Do anything to help you.

France, aloof, rude. Always correcting your pronunciation. Yet they all speak English like Arthur Bostrum, Crabtree in Hello, Hello.
Norway and Denmark.
