Why was the last words by Jesus on the cross include,"My God , My God , Why hast thou forsaken me"?

TAReturns · M
He was referencing Psalm 22 when he said it. Give Psalm 22 a read.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
Because in order to fully experience human mortality, he had to experience a fall from grace and the mortal fear of uncertainity.

they weren't, it was:

‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.'
krass · 31-35
@Pfuzylogic So you are saying Jesus never said that? Stop showing your ignorance
Pfuzylogic · M
@krass
Again you speak quickly to insult.
You simply don’t know the topic.

Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher who thought that God would rescue him at the last minute and install him as ruler of the world... or of Israel, at least. He made this utterance when he realized that this was not going to happen.

.... Maybe?

@walabby but we do know, you mean you don't know
walabby · M
@krass I don't know, and you only think that you do.
krass · 31-35
@walabby I know from the story. Simple

Now I'm going out on a limb because, I really don't know, this is speculation. But I've been trying to come up with a reasonable explanation to this writing and what I come up with, is that it was a mistranslation from Hebrew to English. It was found in other ancient writings outside the bible, where thou was used, meaning you, actually should be thi or thy, meaning your and your meaning the people. Why has your people forsaken me. Your meaning, the person or people that the speaker is addressing. 🤷‍♂️ 🙂

The moment he realized he had been talking to himself his whole life and that his mom just tried to cover up an affair

It was in cultural / religious use to "invoke" the whole content of a Psalm by saying it´s first line.
So as it was also known by others, they didn´t take those begining words as solely meaning.
In said case was Psalm 22.
He still had human emotions, on the cross he experienced the wrath of God, that is what he did for us, to take away the punishment for sin, for those who believe.

The Jesus character grew up thinking that his daddy was God because Mary had been lying to him from day one. After all, when he was a newborn he was called the king of the Jews. As he got older he talked a lot of smack but he never did anything godly. So, when he got nailed he finally realized that it was all a lie.

The crucifixion story also illustrates the 4th Commandment =Exodus 34:19-20.
krass · 31-35
@Diotrephes I don't think that its correct what you say
IPmyPants · 41-45, M
@Diotrephes Jesus KNEW the TRUTH! DO YOU?????
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@IPmyPants When Pilate asked Jesus what the truth is, the jesus character never answered.

John 18:38 (NLV{v = "Pilate said to Jesus, “What is truth?” After Pilate said this, he went out again to the Jews. He said, “I do not find Him guilty."

I suggest Isaiah 53 which was the Old Testament prophecy of the crucifixion. Jesus became a sin offering for those of Faith.

Jesus was leaving the Jews who where taking part in His execution with a quote from the Torah..

Psalms 22:1 "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"

Jews who knew the scriptures.. and there where a number of them,, when their minds had left the hatred and emotional state behind would then think about what He said and they would end up reading the entire psalm 22.. Many of the Jews who took part in His execution would later become Christians..

GOD, HIS FATHER had to turn away while HE bore OUR SINS on the CROSS.
HE DIED on the CROSS for ALL of us. 🙏✝️
Vengabus · 36-40
Because he was dying in more than one way
Renaci · 36-40
Because God turns on everyone in the end no matter how perfect they are because God is a demiurge.
krass · 31-35
@Renaci What is demiurge?
