What does the Bible verse mean to you?

"Matthew 7:6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."

For me means giving what's important to people that won't appreciate it...as it should be.

I was JUST reading that. Matthew was writing the sayings of Jesus. This particular one was about ideas; the sorts of sacred and beautiful and NEW ideas Jesus was trying to teach. As we all know, there were "dogs" and "pigs" scattered everywhere among His detractors.

To be even more graphic, imagine trying to teach the pure love and forgiveness of God to SW perverts, or to abusive atheists, or to liberal progressives who don't believe in God..
Do people not ever get tired of been lectured by a shady group of men who have been dead two thousand years?

People who think the Gospel message of Atonement of Jesus is evil or stupid should not be given gifts of greater knowledge about God and His teachings.. They will mock / attack what ever extra pearls of wisdom you offer to them..

That is what i believe the verse is talking about..

I do find that sometimes to find out if a person is a pig i have to offer them a pearl and observe them trampling it under there feet to finally know that they are one of the pigs..

@FenixGears, Matthew 7:6 is just another ethnocentric racist passage that tells the Israelites/Hebrews/Jews to avoid interacting with Gentiles. It is based on the First Commandment, Exodus 34:11-16 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=exodus+34%3A11-16&version=CEV.

The idea is restated in Matthew 15:24-26 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+15%3A24-26&version=CEV

&
Matthew 10:5-6 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+10%3A5-6&version=CEV

In the Bible only Jews are considered men and humans. Gentiles are animals and beasts, dogs and swine. That idea is restated in the Talmud.

just a total mindfuck to me really. No disrespect to anyone who follows the bible but why does everything seem to be left to interpretation in it, why cant anything just be clear cut?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@4meAndyou fair enough haha

@Torsten Oh, BTW, speaking of the rock and the sand, he was talking about them on two levels, at least. He called his follower, (Simon the fisherman), Simon PETER. Peter means rock in Latin, and Jesus told Simon Peter, (or just Peter), that he would be the rock upon which he built his church.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Torsten Are you saying you can't understand this?

Matthew 10:5-6 (NLT) ="5 Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: “Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, 6 but only to the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep."

or this =

Matthew 15:24-26 (NLT) = "24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.”

25 But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!”

26 Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.”

sounds like it's saying that animals are beneath us and i don't know if you ever had a dog but mine are part of the family on par with us. it sounds like the same pretentious BS that tries to build up our ego before calling us sinful and disgusting in another chapter.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@bugeye I Jewish Law Dog meat and pig meat are unclean to eat.. They are not Kosher.. The verse has nothing to do with human superiority over animals.. But symbolically to do with dealing with unbelievers who have not been made rghtious in spirit by believing jesus and trusting in the atonement He secured on the cross..
I think it's clear tbh

Don't give what is valuable to that which cannot appreciate it

It means they became even more sick

I tried looking at the context, and it seems kind of random given the other lines it comes after.
It's a pretty straightforward message though.

@MasterLee I knew I should have read further than my dick going to hell, a few more chapters and maybe I'd be well

@Darksideinthenight2 I think that evil people would find ways evil solutions with or without it, an evil leader is too dangerous, some have used religion and have self proclaimed themselves as prophets 🤔😅
