Olympic opening ceremony mocks Christianity

This wouldnt have happened a few yrs ago , but now....
Prophecy coming true on the world stage before the eyes of millions

The Scripture is spot on.

Why not portray Islam in a similar fashion. They never will, because of the backlash.

This truly is blasphemous and a mockery of Christ and the Christian faith.

By the way the they are removing all the videos of this from the Olympics YouTube channel, because of the outrage.

It seriously contravened the IOC mission statement,ie “Recognising that sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality. They have the rights and obligations of autonomy, which include freely establishing and controlling the rules of sport, determining the structure and governance of their organisations, enjoying the right of elections free from any outside influence and the responsibility for ensuring that principles of good governance be applied.”

The Olympic Charter also states:

“The mission of the IOC is to promote Olympism throughout the world and to lead the Olympic Movement. The IOC’s role is: (…) to oppose any political or commercial abuse of sport and athletes.”

These principles have been recognised and supported repeatedly by several resolutions of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in recent years, including expressly “acknowledging the fundamental principles of the Olympic Charter” (A/RES/78/10 – Building a peaceful and better world through sport and the Olympic Ideal from November 2023).

If mocking another's religious conviction is insensitivity count me out
RageAgainstTheMachine · 36-40, M
@LeopoldBloom Political but not religious.
@RageAgainstTheMachine The opening ceremony wasn't "religious" unless you follow the Ancient Greek religion and worship Dionysius. If any religion is going to be included, that should be that one, considering where the Olympics originated. People getting their panties in a bunch because they think the performance is mocking the Last Supper because it superficially resembles the Da Vinci painting are just looking for ways to be offended.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom it was never meant to be religious

We must forgive them, as Christ Jesus would forgive the sins of ALL who eventually repent. And we can't know if these people will eventually repent. In the meantime, it is painful for those of us who love Jesus to see Him mocked, but HE would turn the other cheek, and so must we.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou yes forgiveness and repentance are vital!

NBC must have cut it out because when they showed the opening ceremony later that night that wasn't there. And I know they immediately cut off one particular act involving the same thing once it became apparent. But yes prophecies of the last days have been fulfilled and the closer we get the worst it will be.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, forso they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:10
@Carazaa No christians are being "persecuted".
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@Carazaa yes sadly Christians are being persecuted all over the world and we need to remember that. Whilst not relevant to this post, the bit about people speaking evil against you falsely certainly is! Its happened on this very post. I really hope the person responsible repents and turns to God for forgiveness . Im certainly prepared to forgive him!

Foolish and insensitive to mock others' religious beliefs though it is, this bit of nonsense is hardly important and getting all indignant about it is not better.

It was merely part of the absurdly overblown "Opening Ceremony" for an international sports fixture. It is the sports that matter. The opening razzmattazz as a whole is no more significant, really, than the non-athletic "celebrities" who are only There To Be Seen There.

I have no idea what was intended with whatever was actually displayed, but come on, we take the mickey out of all other human activities. The more indignant and pompous they become when satirised or spoofed, the more they deserve it. Why should religions think themselves above that?

Forget the overblown show-business stuff and enjoy the athletics instead!
Get over yourselves.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom why do say that? You know absolutely nothing about me, i used to have a neighbour who was trans, worked as a nurse, did a great job like all nurses
@TheWildEcho Do you call out your Christian brethren when they support anti-trans policies?

Having put my pennyworth in, and now read other comments that have appeared since, I almost miss having not watched the whole wretched "opening ceremony" nonsense originally, and therefore seen what really happened - if anything - and therefore know and judge for myself.

Rather then be told to think what happened and what to think about it, on any "social(?)-medium....
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@ArishMell from what ive heard if you had watched it all youd probably have dropped off!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@TheWildEcho Oh dear, was it that bad? :-)
Seriously? Someone on this site saying they'd never watch the Olympics again because of a tiny part of the opening ceremony? How incredibly petty and feeble minded.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
yes it would have, wherever theatrics were given space the avant garde weirdos would inject their performance

things like halftime shows and galas

Do you also feel outrage when this is shared all over social media?

TexasDude · 31-35, M
@SW-User Yes actually. I'm at least very annoyed. It's blasphemous really
@SW-User it brings up a good point. As disrespectful as the Olympic artwork is, it does little to undermine the Christian faith. But this work, on the other hand, was probably made by a MAGA with the intention of merging Trump's mission with Jesus's

Americans and their obsession with injecting religion into politics is perplexing.
Men in dresses - what a terrible thing to happen for Christianity
