Surprisingly it wasn’t Led Zeppelin in 77. Two provocative and intense concerts were BOC with Montrose opening in 76. This was the “Agents of Fortune” tour and then there was Iggy Pop with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts opening on their first US tour back in Summer 81.

@AbstractWave They were PIiSSED at Cincinnati! We had a reputation for being too rowdy with festival seating. Robin Trower had a very bad time with his concert because of pushing and so he tried to mellow everyone out with mellow music but it didn’t work. BOC came out with a song “Sorry Cincinnati we’re not going to play for you.”
The rowdy ones flipped them off and walked out.
Montrose was incredible so they didn’t get the note to mess with the crowd. Sammy Hagar and Ronnie Montrose were both in top form. Sammy was smaller back then and all of about 20 years old.
BOC used interactive laser light with lasers on their wrist. They shot them at mirrored objects through the mist/smoke.
They would not play “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Many other strange things happened but what a bizarre concert!

Rush, Exit Stage Left, Pink Floyd The Wall in the 80's.
But the best was my very first concert, Ozzy Osbourne, Blizzard of Oz. When Randy Rhoads was still alive. A tiny 10,000 seat venue, Swing Auditorium, Orange showgrounds. I could not hear for a week. Thought it was permanent. Summer of 10th grade. Ticket cost. 8 dollars 75 cents.
