When I was younger like in my early to mid 20s. I remember people would go out of their way to help. One particular time I asked for a shipping slip at the post office and the lady filled it out for me. There was a line up of people there. I've filled them out many times before, it's not like I needed help. Also I would get free beer from all kinds of women just for me to sit with them. It was a great time 😏🤌. Now I'm fat and middle aged but I'll always have those memories though 😆
If I have dressed very nicely occasionally I'll get something like that. Like men will hold the door open for me or even wait for me to get to the door. That type of thing. Or at one point a man helped me with my groceries. Tho if I were dressed normally then usually I get no attention. And also all the men who did these things were just older men. That's the major thing I noticed. I never really saw any younger men treat me any different.
@Juvia im back down 50 lbs again..going to get there unless i die first!! but honestly anyone who speaks sexually or just abt my looks..i really need to drop them immediately, or get someone to test their character for me before we date. if anyone is rude to a fat friend of mine, or even dismissive..i need to not date them.
I don't know if it's pretty privilege or simply being a young woman interacting with older men. But yeah, looking back I feel that in some situations I would be treated differently if I looked differently.
i was once asked out as a cruel joke by 3 guys who never showed..so yeah.
Kind of strange behavior on their part. Especially if they see you at work.
I have seen a few of your posts where you talk about feeling insecure. There is something you have not seen yet but you soon will and it will be very satisfying -
Throughout our 40's, the people who seem to have the world by the short hairs tend to lose their advantages. Their perfect marriages crumble, their looks fade really quick, and the "pretty ones" become invisible like the rest of us.
It is kind of satisfying because ya know, when we were younger we were jealous of those people and they snubbed their noses at us. But someday you will see them and think, "I would not even p*ss on them if they were on fire."
But yeah people's perfect little world eventually comes crashing down. And you will love seeing it when it happens to those people you once envied.
@Punches that is actually a really fascinating take, because i always kinda felt like the world was backwards..that we should be getting younger, not older, the harder we work. now i see it has its own advantage..thank you for this!
@foldedunfolding It would complicate things if some of us aged backwards. Suppose two young adults fell in love, both 21, then three years later realize the woman is now eighteen and the man is twenty-four and if they don't end the relationship he's going to be in big trouble in a year?
@FreeSpirit1 It's very true. There's a level of chivalry that, in spite of the modern feminists, is still there. I have never seen a woman carry a man's furniture from the truck to the apartment then start putting it together, or change the oil in a car for a man, etc. Men will do that, though, but schools and societal pressure are making that anachronistic. I saw a video of a woman being sexually assaulted on a subway train, and the guys around her chose to video the ordeal with their phones rather than help. It breaks my heart and angers me.
Yes.Cops let me off for speeding instead of ticketing me.When they see my 46 inch legs they want my phone number and the speeding offence has vanished.i get bought drinks when I'm out socially and men hit on me all the time,Door staff at clubs let me straight in without having to queue up.I scored myself a receptionist job by wearing a cream colored skirt suit with a skirt so short it barely showed beneath the jacket teamed with 6 inch stiletto heeled sandals and a cropped halter neck top.Major interview dress code breaches but I knew that it would be two mean interviewing me. But also...other women can be wary of me when they are nearby and with their partner.
@SW-User feels kinda shitty being around someone who has it when you dont..just came back from the pool where i thought the security guard flirts with ME..but he went to my married friend, who was not wearing her ring, and called her beautiful while excluding me. she then didnt even tell him she was married, and wants to come back to the pool again. im not into him, but damn..made me feel kinda small lol
However being English, white, male, heterosexual all those completely through luck of birth privilege mean I can't be bitter about missing out on that one.
@foldedunfolding Doors just kinda open for her. Like she goes to a trip to Seattle to see around and suddenly she's invited to a VIP room at a swish club where the only champagne is 300 dollar bottles of Dom. She goes up to the space needle and the maintenance dude lets them climb the exterior.
She's a completely decent and good person and has that protagonist of reality thing going for her.
@CountScrofula wowww that is wild. she also seems really charismatic tho, from what you have told me of her. but i do think that pretty privilege can ALSO manifest itself AS the confidence to have unmitigated charisma too
