Did anyone quit smoking

I need some tips please. Does cutting down work?
I changed to a vape. It quit working and two other vapes I have somehow just didn’t measure up to my current favorite. A friend fronted me a carton of cigs and I just returned 8 pks out of the carton. Those things (cigs) made me sick. Which says something or other.

I changed to a vape. I’m still ingesting nicotine but I’ve pared that down from 22 to 18.

No chemicals is better.

Cutting down did not work for me. It’s a truism with addiction that it’s a rare person who can consistently lower the addiction-satisfying behavior. Less isn’t enough. Alcoholics and drug users who relapse are usually back to their former highest level of use within weeks, sometimes days.

Good luck.

Tbh I just stopped. I was irritated for the first 24 hours but after that it was as simple as not smoking anymore.

I think the only reason its "so hard" is because people have hyped it up to be.

Simply stop.

Just stop ...
I finished a pack and didn't buy another..
The first couple of weeks were annoying but it got easier after that..
Cold Turkey is the best way to go..
It's been 3 or 4 years now..
For me it did.

First it was not smoking for the first four hours at work. (I had to stay away from the smokers on break in order to do this)

Then it was ONLY having a smoke at lunch (no more on afternoon break)

Then it was No smoking at work at all.

Then it was no smoking before or during work...

Then no smoking at night classes..

The day I graduated was the day I quit.

HARDEST thing I ever did...

TIP: You also have to give up your triggers. Mine were alcohol, coffee and diet cokes. I can drink all now, but had to give them up to quit and for about a year after I quit as well....

I just stopped. All the 'cures' just spend more money you want to stop wasting.

I managed to finally successfully quit smoking by switching to vaping for a couple years and gradually stepping down how much nicotine I was vaping in the solution. The key is to quit smoking entirely and just push through the cravings for the first two weeks… Cigarettes put a ton of chemicals in their product to make sure you stay addicted to smoking so even with the nicotine in the Vape there is still a craving.

I tried many times and besides the first time when I did cold turkey, the only thing that has worked for me is nicotine replacement via Nicorette mini-lozenges (any generic/store brand will do).

They come in 4mg and 2mg. In the last year we dropped to the 2mg ones and I'm hoping to stop altogether eventually.

They're WAY less expensive than smoking, too, so they're awesome.

I went with vape and slowly lowered nicotine amount.

I just quit cold turkey. Look at people who smoked their whole lives and how much older they look. That's what did it for me and I was smoking up to 2 packs a day. My hub smoked and I made him smoke outside. He quit shortly after me and he was smoking more than me. Sure its not fun for the first week, but shit, its worth it! You'll survive!

It did not for me...I had to just keep quitting until it took. I am still quitting. I smoked for the better part of 40 years a pack and a half to 4 packs a day. Last tobacco of any kind 7-7-2006. I am still quitting because I still get urges, much easier to control now....I don't dare smoke another or I will be right back again.

I was smoking 2 packs a day, sometimes more. Been over a year since I haven’t touched a cigarette. I thought i’ll taper it down over a month and gradually leave..but two days into that practice, and I decided i’ll just quit.

I quit the way you're supposed to quit drinking. I told myself if I wanted a cigarette I would have one but I didn't need one right now. I carried my cigarettes around for four days then threw them away. That was 1981.

I smoked a bit as a teen, but quitting was pretty easy because of how infrequent it was.

I never smoked but maybe you could try nicotine anonymous

I cut back a little at a time. Took me about a year to stop and still these days if I am around smokers it's tempting but I refuse to do it again.

Cold turkey and resolve. It gets easier after day 5.
