Has anyone noticed online racism has increased recently?

Considering what has been happening in the world I would have assumed we're starting to change for the better. but I've noticed more and more people have problems with mixed-race relationships.

I've even had (insecure) men question me about having an african friend in my profile picture - to the point I'm considering just removing my face all together.

Someone else put this better already further down but I think because on the whole thete is LESS racism (talking of the UK), it appears that much more obvious - it gets called out, and because of social media, massively exposed and receives a bigger backlash and attention. It's like the rock to hide under is smaller now, where there are less of them it is easier to see. I don't like the witch-hunt or thought police claiming racism so easily though, it undermines a real issue. I think since BLM in the US, it has got worse in the UK and a problem has been caused where there wasn't one before. I keep seeing the question asked 'is the UK a racist country', and the answer is of course not. Are there people with racist views? Yes, but even then not so many as people would claim. I am in London which is the most diverse place in the country, the vast majority of people get on fine and don't pay the tiniest bit of attention to what colour someone is. It's only recently that it has been put at the front of everyone's mind, and not for better.

@InOtterWords ... highest civilsin death rate ... 🤔 let's see, 67 deaths caused by the BLM/Antifa riots, all those deaths were HIS fault were they
@BigGuy2 they were under his presidency
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
@InOtterWords ...talk about being 'brainwashed' - i'll put it in context for you - CNN News, which is a Liberal mouthpiece, Cuomo stated on air, "where does it say that protests have to be peaceful" ... Don Lemon, criticised the riots NOT because {at the time of him saying it there were 60 deaths}, he critcised the riots when it was found the Democrats were doing bad at the opinion poles ... let that sink in for a second ... the official News or Liberal viewpoint is that they were on a whole 'peaceful' protests even though 60 deaths happened, but when poles go against Liberals they say rioting is bad

hei , you have my reply in the inbox :D
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
I’m afraid it’s always existed but the internet has allowed those racist people to spread their abhorrent views in an anonymous way.☹️
Dez580 · 61-69, M
@Dlrannie hatred based on differences is as old as the world itself. such abhorrent views are often expressed whereas positive viewpoints are sadly kept private by decent people.
JamieCurtis0 · 26-30, M
It feels different to me. I think there are less racists but the racists that are there are a lot nastier these days, in my experience.
Lyndawifeandmom · 36-40, F
It's wrong on so many levels ... We all have our preference... Mine isn't racially motivated. It's personal choice ...
bluemachine · 26-30, M
Yup being a dark skinned guy online has its downfall
Tequila · 22-25, F
considering how important is the dimension of the dick of black males the racism should be against the white males ahah , also is funny considering that is nor really black and white , "white" people are more like sand and terra cotta , while "black" people are more like between copper and brown cortex
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
It wasn't me this time, I swear
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
What is online racism? How does anyone know what anyone else's race is? I certainly don't know yours nor does it matter. I can't even be sure you are a woman even though you have F after your alleged age which again I don't have proof of.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I am seeing lots of more racism, as well as religious intolerance, misogyny, etc! Without getting into what I believe was the initial precipitant and what threw fuel on the tinders, I hope and pray the fires of intolerance can be doused and put out.
romell · 51-55, M
I agree here on sw people chat fine till you don't declare your country of origin or skin color and suddenly they are silent ..yet claim not racist

The rise in all forms of hate crimes has increased. BTW, I love your profile image, leave it. You are a beautiful young woman.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
Well if you remove your photo with your African friend then you will be helping the racist win. Cheers
Alexsw · 70-79, M
No movement or law will change the racism.
The attitude of people has to change.
Bobdale · 56-60, M
Overall I thot we as human beings were getng past racism. There's hope .
Dez580 · 61-69, M
sadly yes, and it is increasing often amongst those claim to be young
Alex51 · 61-69, M
Your profile picture is nice. You are right in
posting a picture with African friend
melbeacher · 56-60, M
Yes I have definitely noticed an increase.
olderguy2016 · 70-79, M
Ignore racism
Dez580 · 61-69, M
@olderguy2016 disagree, racism needs challenging every time
Alexsw · 70-79, M
Be bold. Ignore them
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I've noticed a general increase, but not to point where people are complaining about race mixing.I would be likely to just cut people that toxic out of my life though.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
What we're seeing is as well, is Liberals creating racism when there isn't racism there, it usually happens in America with the Democrats AND in Election Year, EVERYBODY is racist when the Democrats need the Black vote, Candace Owens - {who's black} - in front of the Senate - summed it up perfectly well when she said "Democrats ALWAYS run out the 'race card' when they need votes in election year"
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
AND what you'll find, if you bother to look, is that it's the ethnic minorities that isolate THEMSELVES - akin to a Ghetto - because it's them that DON'T want to blend in, they are MINORITIES, hence the term 'ethnic minority' NOT 'majority' ... THEY need to blend in to a 'democratic' {rule by majority} society ... that is in part why Sharia Law is being implemented, it seems everywhere
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
Liberals HATE the UK because it's NOT {on a whole} a racist society
curiosi · 61-69, F
The definition of the word racist has changed to mean anyone who disagrees with a liberal.

ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@curiosi not really. People are just mislabeling enablers. Enablers aren't actively racist, but they don't do enough to hold racists accountable. And some people either don't want to recognize the difference or they want to make the enablers feel bad for being passive about what they view as an important issue.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
@curiosi ... hopefully, that 'book' is not just made up, as i can't seem to find it online
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
Don't let other peoples insecurities and prejudice make you do anything you don't want to do. I think the pic is lovely.

If we start letting the racists and bigots control things, even on a minute level, it might give them the urge to push for more and more.

Standing up to them, defying them no matter how small is how we fight this. Just my opinion on the matter.
SarahTheHunter · 41-45, F
@MrPerditus1 I definitely agree, well spoken
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@SarahTheHunter Thank you and I hope it was helpful.

Just don't change who you are or what you believe. 🤗🌷
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
We're not seeing more racists so much as we're seeing more polarization. After decades of slow improvement, active racists are feeling marginalized and thus growing more vocal to try to make it look as if there is more support for their ideologies than there really is. On top of this, the US dog Whistler in chief has emboldened the worst of them to come out of hiding.
SarahTheHunter · 41-45, F
@ViciDraco I did wonder if a 'vocal minority' movement was at play - I guess if you do have racist tendancies now is the time that they would come out
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@SarahTheHunter it's a combination right now. There is a vocal minority of active racists. But there is also a large segment of enablers. People who don't really do racist things themselves but they don't do anything to call out or stop racism in others. The enablers are a real problem, but they have to be communicated with properly. Lot of folks just lump the enablers in with the racists and put them in the defensive. Which helps the racists more than the anti racists.
SarahTheHunter · 41-45, F
@ViciDraco That's very true, non-involvement on an issue definitely helps those who are 'attacking' more than those who are 'defending'.

Well, there are those who would suggest that some countries have a much bigger problem with racism than they care to admit... And.. there are some who say that Trump has legitimised and given voice to those who tended towards racism.. So now they are less afraid of being called out on it..
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Haha yeah I have actually. It hasn't been one sided either, I've seen black, white and asian people all go ham with the racism recently and its always Americans for some reason.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Having watched BLM protests and the violent actions of certain blacks towards other blacks one has great difficulty in remaining non racist.
just block them
SarahTheHunter · 41-45, F
@InOtterWords Of course I block them, but that doesn't really solve the core issue
SW-User
Sadly racism will never go away. No matter where you go in the world someone will always find a way to spread hate.
Piper · 61-69, F
I've been noticing that for several years, now.
People are more vocal about it because they’re seeing more mainstream validation, unfortunately.
