Has anyone noticed online racism has increased recently?

Considering what has been happening in the world I would have assumed we're starting to change for the better. but I've noticed more and more people have problems with mixed-race relationships.

I've even had (insecure) men question me about having an african friend in my profile picture - to the point I'm considering just removing my face all together.

We're not seeing more racists so much as we're seeing more polarization. After decades of slow improvement, active racists are feeling marginalized and thus growing more vocal to try to make it look as if there is more support for their ideologies than there really is. On top of this, the US dog Whistler in chief has emboldened the worst of them to come out of hiding.

@ViciDraco I did wonder if a 'vocal minority' movement was at play - I guess if you do have racist tendancies now is the time that they would come out

@SarahTheHunter it's a combination right now. There is a vocal minority of active racists. But there is also a large segment of enablers. People who don't really do racist things themselves but they don't do anything to call out or stop racism in others. The enablers are a real problem, but they have to be communicated with properly. Lot of folks just lump the enablers in with the racists and put them in the defensive. Which helps the racists more than the anti racists.

@ViciDraco That's very true, non-involvement on an issue definitely helps those who are 'attacking' more than those who are 'defending'.
