How can UPS lose a parcel?

[c=000000]I don't understood how a major company who is responsible for world wide shipping has no recollection or any knowledge of my parcel. Even with the limited info I have it doesn't help. I abhor people blaming everything on the pandemic. Individuals need to accept responsibility for their actions or at least try to be more helpful and apologetic. 😠[/c]

Went through that with a cell phone. They had no records of ever receiving it, nothing on the shipping, then 2 days later they phoned to say it was in. It was sealed with TSA security tape, but I opened it in front of them and we were all surprised to find and empty container.
@Quimliqer Good Lord! That's simply horrendous my friend. How was it resolved, hopefully you got your phone eventually? 😠

@Quimliqer Great thing you opened it in front of them or they wouldn't of believed you.

Also TSA? I thought they mainly looked and checked people? I don't believe they normally check packages (though I could be wrong).

I wonder if someone got hd of some TSA tape and used it but weren't really part of TSA (or at least weren't doing their TSA job, even if they were TSA).

It's quite easy to lose a package, I'm surprised more aren't lose or stolen...

Though they should have some clue where it was last...

If they claimed they dropped it off, it could of been front porch pirates.

Or do they not even know if it's been delivered?

@sensualbeauty1 oh? Could the number be a prank? That's weird if they have zero tracking on it...

Or maybe one of the numbers is wrong?
@Viper I am not sure but I'm trying it once more to see if the status has changed. I'm hoping the company has another number besides the order number for the purchase. Thank you, I'm hoping for the best, gotta try to be optimistic here.

@sensualbeauty1 yeah, I know in some people writing, certain numbers can look similar or confusing to different people.

Or someone could have written the number wrong...
They don't pay particularly well & employees don't gaf.
@DropTopDig I hope you can still get a job or the training you need to be a mechanic. You seem like a very responsible, reliable and hardworking individual with a great work ethic. Never give up on your dreams or yourself. My motto in life has always been try and make those dreams become a reality. 💋☺️
@sensualbeauty1 My dream was to learn more about racing (I built a fast car but had to sell it when I got divorced). Eventually I wanted to be on a pit crew for a major racing team but just never happened.
@DropTopDig I'm very sorry, life really sucks sometimes and fate can be exceedingly cruel. Good luck with everything, hope it all works out for you.

I work in a ware house. We use UPS to take some of our packages. Once in a while when we open the UPS truck there are still packages in the truck that were not taken out. All it takes is one person who did not do their job and a package or several can get lost or misdirected.
@Confined I can see that occuring, I know when I was working in the tech industry that happened sometimes. 😔

As long as they dont lose a ballot
@MarineBob Yikes! 🙄

Never lost anything with them but they did destroy a fairly valuable item for me a few years ago. Fortunately I had insured it and eventually they covered it. A pain though.

@sensualbeauty1 ugh. What a process. Good luck, hope they find it and things work out .
@Rambler Thank you appreciated, I'll probably have to call the company in Florida tomorrow to see if they have a tracking number. It's a real pain in the tush.😔

had that trouble with all the major carriers lately, they blame delays on covid, and managed to lose items even when it has a tracking number; especially infuriating when it's something time sensitive/perishable...
@wildbill83 I hear you on that one and yes it is definitely infuriating. They seem to blame a lot of issues on the pandemic, that's simply ludicrous. I do understand delays, staffing problems, etc., I just don't appreciate incompetence or not getting answers.
Trying to fight the system just for your parcel. What's important to you is not what's important to them. I'm sorry for you. Maybe you can get a replacement item shipped to you. See if they'll do that.

It’s like the bad table at the restaurant....it happens...
@fun4us2b Everyone has issues with different services and companies. I'm not sure why the one hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. I'll be hopefully finding out today.

@sensualbeauty1 Good luck - I hope it shows up
@fun4us2b Thank you, just calling the company soon. I certainly hope so.

@MougyWolf 😳🤞
Right? Literally their only job is to deliver parcels.
@LordShadowfire When you pay a lot of money for shipping you certainly expect it to be delivered or the information you need is in the system at least to track it down.
@sensualbeauty1 Honestly, this type of error wouldn't be accepted from any other field. Can you imagine paying to fuel up your car and it's still empty?
@LordShadowfire I concur, especially when it's a worldwide parcel service. Every company out there today looks for positive feedback and values it's customers. They definitely want them to return. I could never imagine that happening, in the fuel industry. 😏
