Do some people really get offended nowadays when someone tells them, "Merry Christmas"?

I can understand if a person doesn't actually celebrate it, but why get offended?

We live in a time of the perpetualy offended. I think 95 percent of it is faux offense, they are not really offended but by pretending to be it gives then some kind of attention. That is my 2 cents worth. (No offence to those who don't use cents)

@FreeSpirit1 you nailed it sister* ( and n offense to any "nailers" out there), oh and uhhh

* the use of sister is not meant in any way to mean a blood related retaliative, religious term, 70s black power name, gender identification, or any negative label, was meant to be a term of solidarity, familiarity, an agreement of opinion.

Please submit any opinions in writing to my toilet bowl, USA (plumbers - excluded from toilet bowl reference)

anyone who gets offended by someone wishing them something positive - even if they don't celebrate that holiday - has issues. It's about the intention of the message. If someone wished me happy Hanukkah should I be offended because I'm not Jewish? Of course not!

anyhow, what makes me really laugh is that people think Happy Holiday's is somehow a neutral non-religious expression... clearly not knowing that holiday comes from old English for "Holy Day". granted it's not Christian-specific, but it's still a religious sentiment! 😄

@Salix75 Wow, I actually didn't know that 😅.

I never understood that. I don't get offended at other religious holidays. I'm just happy for the joy of their celebrations.

There are some politically correct aholes running around loose who want to eliminate religion from ALL businesses just as was done with our public institutions.

It is a form of political activism, and I don't believe for a moment that they are genuinely offended.

They say it is in the interest of fairness, because some people are Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas, and some people are Muslim and don't celebrate Christmas, and some people are Buddhist and don't celebrate Christmas, and they say that business should respect diversity and be courteous to ALL religions by not promoting one over the other.

However, the simple fact is, that without Christmas spending by consumers, most retail business would fold.

because they have coal for hearts and snow being white offends them as it reminds them of the guilt they feel for being oppressive by existing and jesus is a culturally appropriative and is a micro aggression?.

Or maybe baubles are symbols of oppression and capitalist wealth and only hang above the ground to symbolise their patriarchical hierararchy dominance over women because they also look like balls.

Kids these days lol

Fuck them if they get offended.
No - its for the store to let people know that they are neutral - and dont care that it is a holiday. Even though they reap in mega bucks this time of the year. Christmas time is just another business day to them. No meaning of the real purpose of why we celebrate it.
