Does anybody know how to lift through a rib injury? Can I keep going and just suck it up or am I doing more damage?

Take good care of yourself now, and please allow this to heal the right way without rushing it, and you’ll be glad you did. It will pay off in the long run. You’re not going to die for those few weeks you must use to heal. No shortcuts. If you don’t, you could pay again later, down the road. It’s not worth it. If you can be so strict and disciplined with the gym training, there’s no reason why you can’t eat right and not gain weight, as you fear, while you give your body the special care it’s screaming for.
Please do not lift at this time. You’ll just do more damage. This is really rough for you right now. I know. I’ve had broken ribs three different times. I’m so sorry you have this now. To heal a lot quicker, take extra Vitamin D-3 every day. Do not miss.

You need to at least get it wrapped and rest up. I wouldn't lift through that. Maybe just hand weights or leg workouts if you must

Well if you snap a rib, its going to do a lot of damages.

@Lostpoet I found an article

@Aidan The problem is that I'm a hard gainer and I've been putting some pretty serious hours at the gym just for the muscle I do have, and I'm really just kicking myself because I let it happen. I shouldn't of tried to get that last rep up.

@Aidan thanks.🙂

More damage. This is a question that will depend on the extent of the injury, but I'd ask your doctor to be certain

Ow ,what happened?

@Lemony1199 No, I don't think it's serious. I was just hoping maybe someone new how to work around it. I think I can still do squats and leg stuff.

You may need to rest for few days just in case 😶@Lostpoet
There’s not one thing they can do for you at ER except give you pain medicine. They don’t wrap them anymore, you just suffer through and it’s no fun sitting there for at least four hours in intensive pain, before your attended. It’s really miserable. @Lemony1199

I have broken ribs before....as long as you didn't pierce a lung you will be ok. It will hurt like hell to take a deep breath for a while. The Drs. just X-ray to make sure there are no complication and tell you to take it easy for a while.

Prolly not a good idea to lift right away. You can wrap the area to compress it and help "hold" things in place. However, I would caution against doing any lifting as it will probably just makes things worse if not more serious.
I was told to keep them wrapped and no lifting for a couple of weeks...which was the next doctors appointment.

I hope you are ok.
