New pro-cop propaganda just dropped

Citizen, are you prepared to learn about another excuse the cops thought up that makes it okay when they kill you?
boudinMan · 61-69, M
i guess the lefties won't be happy until there are no more police. i mean, who in their right mind would want to literally put their life on the line for low pay, waning public support (thanks, lefties) and the potential to be charged with murder when accidentally shooting a thug who was wanted on an armed robbery charge. and to top it all off, once there are no more police, they'd love nothing more than to take away your only means self protection. this is what they call progress.
@boudinMan You are the one advocating for a police state.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow you're advocating for anarchy.

why don't you see if you can help leopold out. he wants to know about joe the dictator.
@boudinMan No I am not. I am advocating for basic competence and accountability for policing. Like bare minimum expectations in the developed world.

It isn't a choice between Pinochet or Mad Max. That is a false dichotomy you are inventing out of thin air.

This has to be the dumbest justification so far. A 26-year veteran of the force should not be "panicking" and mistaking a gun for a taser.

There's always going to be some excuse...
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Graylight lol omg. this isn't the same as 'nicking the liver' its more like if the surgeon accidentally mixed up anesthetic and killed you with poison
Graylight · 51-55, F
@NoahB Laceration to the liver is one of the single quickest ways to die on an operating table. My God, I have an old Encyclopedia Britannica set lying around somewhere. You're welcome to it.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Graylight get over yourself lady. you're probably used to being the smartest person in the room. the way you carry yourself is evidence enough of that. you're dead wrong about this though. the comparison you made is terrible. and your points about this aren't convincing either.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Funny how these Christian-hypocritical moments just keep coming up. Most of the people (not including you in the group unless you are) shouting about "no room for error" and "just stop and follow orders" forget the commandment to throw the stone only if they themselves are blameless.

I have no need of a world where mercy isn't shown for a mistake that wasn't made as the result of any deficiency but executive decision in a millisecond. And there is no position where that's "simply unacceptable, because it's "simply inevitable."

I wonder if we have such indignation when the military bombs the entirely wrong village.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@NoahB @SomeMichGuy Not arguing this point anymore. Decisions have been made in the spirit of a compromise and justice. That's the end of it.

I also refuse to engage with those who really, truly have no understanding of the ramification, precedent, psychology or social effect of this issue. Just more cacophony from the sound caves - a lot of utterances and sound but no real intelligible thought.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
The real point is systemic racism. @Graylight
Graylight · 51-55, F
@FlowersNButterflies Systemic racism is a significant problem within professions and in society. But at hand right now is this one officer's actions in a single crisis incident.
BlueVeins · 22-25
This has to be a joke. Just looking at them side by side THEY'RE NOT SHAPED THE SAME WAY
MethDozer · M
@BlueVeins I get Noah's angle butbthe articles aren't as appologetic as it seems. Quite the opposite. What they are saying is in training officers spend almost all their time training on using their firearms and little on batton, taser, and spray. With insturctors emphasisisng the importance of their firearm in a situation. So it almost comes down to an instinctual muscle memory reaction in some cases such as this. Which makes a lot of sense. The articles are blasting hiw poorly trained officers are in situational awarness and in their complete gear set.

We need to acknowledge a big part of this ongoing problem is in a large part from the toxic "quantity over quality" culture in Prosecutor offices. The qhole quota systems and " and an arrest and guilty verdict is the only measure of performance". Instead of puttung value on proper arrests and verdicts.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
Do cops have rocket launchers?! @Elessar
Elessar · 26-30, M
@FlowersNButterflies I hope not lol
Why do they even bother issuing tasers to cops in the US? Seems like a waste of money in the land of shoot first, ask questions later.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@SomeMichGuy tasers are hardly non lethal
@NoahB Only if you have a pre-existing heart condition or on a powerful stimulant. Even then it is not common for it to be fatal and when it is it is usually excessive use.
@NoahB No kidding, that was my point.

They are supposedly non-lethal, but showed problems even when first deployed.
pattycakechamp · 26-30, F
She was an idiot that I guarantee panicked. Her name has been scrubbed from the internet as far as I can tell. Making women look bad.
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@pattycakechamp Poor white woman 😭. The pain she has to endure for taking the life of a black man....
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
I don't think it was a mistake at all. She just made that up to cover her ass. Kinda like when a wife cheats on her husband and claims it was accidental.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@NoahB No one called you a name. And you say condescending, I say educated. You decide.

The great thing about threads like this is that words speak for themselves. You're part of a niche within a 70 million-voter enclave. You represent a small faction of screamers whose best tactic is puffing themselves up to appear larger than they are. In a house with no mirrors, you never have to see things as they really are. Not so in the big world.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Graylight we've been having protests, riots, and civil unrest for the past 10 years regarding police brutality. but sure, im the 'niche'
Graylight · 51-55, F
@NoahB Is it that you twist everything to suit your perspective or d you truly have a learning impediment?
So I guess to be a cop in the US you have to NOT train enough to know what is on your belt and where and you have to be colour blind too.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
The excuses grow more and more lame. @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
fortycreek · M
they should also practice left and right, the gun was on the right and the taser was on the left, easy mistake i suposse
fortycreek · M
@trackboy that all makes sense, but pulling out the taser with the left hand should have caused a pause in the brain i would think
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
If unable to manage his facts, he is unable to be a good cop, @trackboy
trackboy · 22-25, M
@fortycreek I think in the panic she got mixed up and totally forgot the difference between right and left hand. and since both are black it did not pop out at her until after she fired when she heard the gunshot instead of the pop of a taser. if the taser had been a bright yellow she would have seen she had the wrong weapon soon as it was in front of her. cops are so well trained not to let a person drive off that they will do anything to stop them including holding onto the car as it drives off then falling off when it is going fast and dying from it instead of letting go soon as the car takes off. cops won't let a person getaway that is trying to avoid going to jail. If a person is barricaded inside his house with his doors braced so they cant be kicked open they will use a armored vehicle to punch a hole in the wall of the house to get into the house to get him and they will even go after that person even if the person is shooting back at them and die to keep a person from avoiding jail.😺
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Well, you never know what is going to happen or how you are going to act during moments of stress.
Graylight · 51-55, F
These are also police tasers.
[image deleted][image deleted]
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Graylight for all of your so-called 'knowledge' on this issue the only arguement you've been able to cobble together is that it was a mistake. your implication that the cops should not be culpable for mistakes is trivializing it. And I don't see how you let the cops off the hook for incompetence isn't itself 'politicizing' it. Being on the cops side is a political alignment in of itself
Graylight · 51-55, F
@NoahB You were never here to listen to an open debate. You were hear for the echo chamber, and you didn't get it. Enjoy the cave, enjoy the darkness.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Graylight what are you talking about? do you always call people close-minded every time you fail to convince them of something with bad arguments?

Don't blame me for your weak points. I talked with you very civilly this whole time. you're the one who called me a child and belittled my intelligence. only one putting up walls is you. why? idk maybve you got an ego or something
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
It's so sick... bad cops everywhere. No accountability. Sociopaths in blue uniforms, badges and guns.
maybe he genuinely did make a mistake
NoahB · 26-30, M
@mysteryespresso or maybe not!
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
The cause of the traffic stop, behaviors caught on video, didn't justify TASER, either, so there is zero justification for his death. @mysteryespresso
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@mysteryespresso Yeah, cops have been mistakingly killing blacks for over a century.
blame the training not the man
NoahB · 26-30, M
@mysteryespresso also it was a woman
pattycakechamp · 26-30, F
@NoahB Seriously, nobody wants to admit this.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
@mysteryespresso Blame the underlying racism that makes racists terrified of people of color far more than of other caucasians. Prejudice is a usually unexamined dark spot in people's personalities which must be healed if society is to become healthy. Racists carry a form of mental illness they can't see in themselves, but others can.

"The unexamined life is not worth living".
Graylight · 51-55, F
NOT the typical police taser. But nice try.
Neoerectus · M
@Graylight 2017 Reuters article...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 1,000 people in the U.S. have died after police stunned them with Tasers, and the stun gun was ruled to be a cause or contributing factor in 153 of those deaths, a Reuters examination found.

In the most thorough accounting to date of fatal police encounters involving the paralyzing stun guns, Reuters found that nine in 10 of those who died were unarmed and one in four suffered from mental illness or neurological disorders
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Neoerectus 'Kay. No one's arguing tasers do damage. The issue was their appearance.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
Some errors are too agregious to be excused. Should the President be easily excused for pressing the nuke button?
@REMsleep "egregious" and he hasn't.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@SomeMichGuy Please don't correct my spelling. Its rude and has nothing to do with the point at hand. I used speech to text and I don't correct some of the errors.
@REMsleep It's egregious to mis-spell "egregious". If you are going to use a better word, it isn't asking too much to spell it correctly.

But I'm curious as to what your President comment means?
trackboy · 22-25, M
what is a capture error? 😺
MethDozer · M
The thing ia the officer wasn't even warranted using a taser or any amount of force. It was a traffic violation FFS. Just mail him yhe ticket. Remmeber years ago when they tasered the 80 year old lady over a traffic ticket?

Any force is excessibe force over a moving traffic violation. Period, full stop.
MethDozer · M
@NoahB a taser and a glock don't even feel the same in your hand.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@MethDozer yeah for real. the whole "well he shouldn't have resisted arrest" thing is such a ridiculous excuse. God Forbid the cops show restraint and not execute someone immediately for a fucking traffic violation. society would just fall apart if we didn't let the cops just gun ppl down the second they resisted a police officer in anyway.
MethDozer · M
@NoahB He shouldn't have resistied. That's why an additional charge ahould have been listed and another ticket mailed to him.

Expired plates and an air freshner. What a dangerous menace..... Yeah to the bottom line of bloated and over reaourced money grabbing DOT registration offices.
