MarkPaul how the hell does selecting one of 3 adjectives listed reveal your true intentions/motivations/preferences?? Most of the time those adjectives have no relation to one another and you could just as easily guess which ones they want to hear as answer honestly… also keep in mind that this does not replace interviews, more often than not it’s used to determine whether or not to give you an interview in the first place, which is bullshit because most of the time they are set up in a way where you could not accurately represent yourself if you tried.
One real example of an item I encountered on an assessment where I had to rank 3 phrases in order of what best describes me to what least describes me:
• My opinions are always based on facts not emotions• I can see the advantages and disadvantages of an approach• I have no problem working on several tasks at the same timeLike realistically, what useful information would they gather from what order you put them in? Which one is the most important? Least important? Would it even make a difference whether you answer honestly or try and give the answer you think they want to hear?
What about:
• I find it difficult to identify why other people behave the way they do
• I sometimes do not focus on securing new business when opportunities arise
• I do not take criticism very wellDo you really wanna say that any of those are like you? Do you know for sure what’s the better answer? The worst answer? Does the employer even know what answers they should be looking for? Do they even look at your answers? Or is it just a way to filter out people who aren’t willing to put up with pointless bullshit just to work for their shitty company for shitty pay?
