Biden you suck

I don’t know if any of y’all are following the rail workers looming strike but you should be.

Biden and congress are probably going to force the unions hand in accepting the offer by the rail lines, albeit with the provision they are given 7 sick days per year.

7. Per year.

That’s just some of what they’re not getting now. No wonder they’re threatening to shut the whole country down.

The government can back off and the whole thing can collapse. Give the workers what they deserve.

Dude's entire background is being a kind of labour Democrat from the northeast and this is an unconscionable betrayal of the working class. Fuck Biden.

The conditions that the rail workers work in are -horrific-. It has taken them like two years to get to this point of a strike because they have literally no other options and the fucking fatcats are pocketing massive profits.

Solidarity with rail workers.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@MalteseFalconPunch Yep. Traitor. No other way to think about it.

@CountScrofula The solution is to nationalize the rail industry.
This is an example of why when right-wingers claim Biden’s a socialist or a communist, you know they have no clue about what either term means. 😞

What particularly bugs me is the fact that he & Congress could 100% just force the railroads to comply with the unions' demands by the same legislative process.
Biden admin - Elon and twitter is a risk to nation security.
Biden admin - Tim Cooke and apple are a private company and can shut down features that protestors against the tyrannical CCP use in china to communicate..

Hang the freaking lot

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Liberals logic
Eternity · 26-30, M
I fully support that strike. And they should go ahead and do it even if the government tells them not to.

These fuckers need to understand that the american working class is not going to take this shit anymore.
@Eternity
After reading the settlement i would support a strike..
They got screwed
They get some sick time but still have forced overtime and automatic on call status.
@Onestarlitnight
Looks like the paid short term sick leave failed to pass.. they get a 24 percent raise over 5 years and 1000 annual bonus ..
They got screwed basically..
Way to go Joe

See this is why I laugh my ass off when right wingers say Biden is "far-left". If he was far-left he'd have turned it into worker's cooperatives or nationalized it.

@Stereoguy not at all true. Anarchism means no state control and workers collectively owning the means of production. There is no class in Anarcho-Communism.

Everything the rail companies are doing is legal. We need to change the law. Most workers are not unionized and get paid sick days only if their employer voluntarily provides them.

Or nationalize the rail industry and all of the workers become federal civil servants. But in the absence of that, this was the best Biden could do given the needs of the workers and the public.

@MalteseFalconPunch It's based on the 1926 Rail Labor Act, which gives the unions less power than they have in other industries. Given the importance of rail transport, the industry should definitely be nationalized. Recent developments such as Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR) has allowed rail companies to run fewer but longer trains, squeezing more work out of fewer employees. They're even contemplating eliminating conductors from some trains. Here's an analysis by someone in the industry who's more familiar with the situation.

@LeopoldBloom Exactly. Railroads need to be treated more like utilities.
ron122 · 41-45, M
When Biden gets involved, you know it's not going to be good for the workers. The unions own him.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@ron122 The Unions didn't want this garbage "agreement".
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
It’s a private company and can do what it wants.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Eternity Correct
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@MrBrownstone citation needed. And you do know you lot originally started that, right? It was during the Gay Wedding Cake fiasco where you said it's their business, they can do what they want with it without government interference. It's a conservative argument, not a liberal one.

And again liberals aren't leftists.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@basilfawlty89 Actually he needs a lesson in middle school civics, but you really shouldn't waste your time.

@MrBrownstone The problem is not (exclusively) that the companies are being unreasonable and cruel, but that the Railway Labor Act allows congress to forcibly end a railway strike whenever it chooses, even preemptively, a power it does not have over any other occupation. Thus, workers are denied thir one piece of leverage for obtaining fair conditions and can be legally mandated to go to work.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Yup. Biden is a bastard for sure. And his VP... ugh.

Can't wait for Trump vs. Biden.

This is why I checked out of US politics.

That, and he is fucking with my nation of Dominican Republic over the Hati issue...

Shit all around. Just an enormous mess, and I don't see the world getting better at all. Just the opposite.
@GeistInTheMachine We already had Trump vs. Biden.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@LeopoldBloom We'll easilly have them again. Trump's running again, and Biden's incumbent. Unless he steps down and let's Copmala run... Horror show.
@GeistInTheMachine If Biden steps down, Kamala will have a lot of competition. In fact, I don't expect her to run at all in that case.

Trump will face competition too, and not just from DeSatan. Pence, Pompeo, Youngkin, Hawley, Cruz, and Haley for starters, and those are just the ones I know about right now. It should tell you something that the big donors are telling Trump they're not supporting him this time.

But another Trump v. Biden matchup will go the same way the last one did. Biden will win and Trump will claim fraud.

Senate killed the 7 days.

@MalteseFalconPunch I wish people realized how broken "52 to 43 means 43 wins" is.
Dino11 · M
Can't prove that by the midterm elections, he got a vote of confidence.
sounds like someone else's problem to me
Human1000 · M
I think Biden did the right thing. I am against strikes that make third parties suffer. Supplies needed for hospitals, other safety issues, economic downturns or a strikes that hurt kids. Such strikes make people feel not responsible for their actions.
OggggO · 36-40, M
Human1000 · M
@OggggO Doesn’t make it not true about rail workers, however. Nurses striking hurts patients and they don’t care. Teachers striking hurts kids and they don’t care. Sometimes unions are also just greedy and striking makes otherwise ethical people do unethical things. I personally support the sick leave, seems fair, and am sorry they didn’t get it.
