Ask him if he's dieting. If he says no, don't bring up the chocolates. If he says yeah, been trying to. Bring up how you plan to take on the noble sacrifice of aiding him in his health by relieving him of those chocolates...

Walk in and go wow I love these....do you mind if I have one. If you are lucky they will say oh why don't you just take the pack as I didn't plan to eat them :D

I find forgiveness after the fact is better than asking for permission...

Ask him if he has plans to give the chocolate to someone. He might say he is going to give it to a family member. OR he might say, "Would you like a box?"
