I Hear Another Helicopter Flying Over The Neighborhood…

Do you ever hear a helicopter flying overhead and think to yourself “The government is sending helicopters to protect me?”

I don’t but my sister does, and not only helicopters but military planes. We are in the flight path of the Air Force base that’s nearly 20 miles away. It would be terribly expensive to fly AWACs and helicopters over homes to protect individuals wouldn’t it? 😂

Yeah I tend to think the opposite. Especially those helicopters I don't recognise. Yes there is the police helicopter and the TV helicopter and the air ambulance helicopter which I am all for and even the military helicopters when they are in the military practice area but as happened last night an unknown and heavy went over very low. Just enough to make me go Hmmmm.

If I'm in a city I see helicopters a lot. I think that large cities are harder to maintain and helicopters are part of that. They're basically flying trucks.

@HobNoblin The city police department has one that it uses to check the local parks, no one is supposed to be there after dark so they go about 30 minutes before sunset to check them around here. If there are people there then they may dispatch a cop later while they are on their neighborhood patrols to see if anyone is still there. They also use them to check on traffic especially during high-traffic times like football games and other events and move-in and move-out times at the university when traffic is highly congested. They will also use them in criminal chases or when criminals are on foot running from the police. Saw one at the university going around and around a building that is 4 stories tall and shaped like an X. They were watching till the campus cops got there and apparently the suspect kept running around the building and trying to hide in the inside corners of the X-shaped building. There is also a new helicopter school located at the city airport along with the flight school. Small planes are always landing and taking off throughout the day here. Sometimes I hear a military helicopter and they will rattle the windows when they go over.

There used to be an air force base about 40 miles from here in South Weymouth. They closed in 1997...but there is another one about 30 miles away, on Cape Cod. There was a big flap a while back because they had contaminated the ground water.

Anyway...no...I don't feel protected. When I hear them flying over it scares the hell out of me.

@soar2newhighs Sorry that this doesn’t answer your question but thought I would throw it in. I live in this city with a flight training school connected to 9/11. They weren’t taught how to fly commercial airliners there but the small planes.

@soar2newhighs It wasn't involved in the crashes. It had been on course for Logan Airport, full of passengers, when the control tower had a lot air traffic begin flying really low before landing. They had to pull ALL the planes still on approach in to land all at once.
@4meAndyou Thanks.Appreciate you clearing that up.

No. We are in the flight path to the air base and get lots of helicopters: Army Apaches, Coast Guard choppers, oil platform copters, and others.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
No but it does kinda make me feel safe.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Matt85 you wanna bet? She is totally delusional. Her daughter talked her into going to her psychiatrist who told her she was manic and wrote a prescription for a sleep med. Then she tore her shrink apart on FB and called her a quack because she didn’t believe she was psychic and could win a presidential election.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@cherokeepatti Ah right, sorry to hear that. I have a friend who is a little delusion and it makes him angry sometimes, at society.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Matt85 The way she is going and stubborn about treatment she may make the news one day with something she has done. She posts a lot of hateful things about politics saying she knows Trump will be dead soon, seems to want to pour gasoline on the fire.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I hear them at night. They're the cops chasing someone. I only worry if I see a spotlight shining in my backyard.
ArtieKat · M
We frequently get police helicopters overhead tracking criminals escaping from a crime scene.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@ArtieKat Happens here sometimes too. I get up and go check the doors to make sure they are all locked when it happens.
when the weather gets bad, tornado warning, move all the plans out of harm, when the storm is over bring them back,
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@jackrabbit10 The military will send more AWACS here to the base and park them when there is a threat of severe weather like a hurricane in the southern state. This base does maintenance on AWACs, they have other planes and helicopter too. But some days I have sat and watched one AWAC after another flying overhead on their way to the base. And when driving will see them take off up into the air and fly south the same direction I am headed to.
@cherokeepatti I live in Tennessee also seen military Helicopters ,makes you think something is going,
You notice how the” drone” issue quietly slipped away? Ah, the things that go on…
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@soar2newhighs yeah if the government wanted to protect her they’d send drones wouldn’t they? A whole lot less expensive to do that. Like they can protect her with an AWAC plane. 😂 Well she is running for president again. So there’s that.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti you could always get even with her for all the torment she did to you when you were little and tell her she is actually on their watch list.😅
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Adrift I haven’t talked to her in over a decade. She burnt herself out with me when I was helping her so much back then. I don’t trust her a bit.
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I associate them with something bad has happened..
