I Hear Another Helicopter Flying Over The Neighborhood…

Do you ever hear a helicopter flying overhead and think to yourself “The government is sending helicopters to protect me?”

I don’t but my sister does, and not only helicopters but military planes. We are in the flight path of the Air Force base that’s nearly 20 miles away. It would be terribly expensive to fly AWACs and helicopters over homes to protect individuals wouldn’t it? 😂

There used to be an air force base about 40 miles from here in South Weymouth. They closed in 1997...but there is another one about 30 miles away, on Cape Cod. There was a big flap a while back because they had contaminated the ground water.

Anyway...no...I don't feel protected. When I hear them flying over it scares the hell out of me.
@4meAndyou in ‘69 I was at Lowry AFB ( now closed) in Denver,Co. Our barracks were in the path of the “ final” for aircraft flying into Stapleton Airport ( I believe closed too) That was a bit scary, too!

@soar2newhighs Sometimes they fly over VERY low, and it takes me right back to 9/11 watching that huge passenger jet fly over the highway at only 200 feet above ground. Very traumatizing!
@4meAndyou Which 9/11 airplane are you referring to?

@soar2newhighs Sorry that this doesn’t answer your question but thought I would throw it in. I live in this city with a flight training school connected to 9/11. They weren’t taught how to fly commercial airliners there but the small planes.

@soar2newhighs It wasn't involved in the crashes. It had been on course for Logan Airport, full of passengers, when the control tower had a lot air traffic begin flying really low before landing. They had to pull ALL the planes still on approach in to land all at once.
@4meAndyou Thanks.Appreciate you clearing that up.
