Have someone bump the hood while you pull the cable.
Viper · M
Yeah, oftentimes there is a trick some other lever you need to push... it depends on your car, I would put the model and year in YouTube or google it and see what the trick is.
I've heard there are less than 5, so people that deal with cars often know them, I'm not one of them.

Have you tried dynamite? 🤔
@NerdyPotato Hmm... that should get it open, alright... but pulling on my cable through the grille may be less destructive... 🤔🤔🤔

The latch is worn , there are guide or hood stops that are out of adjustment. Have someone hold the latch in the car open and in the centre of tge hood where the latch would directly be below , give it a solid hit . Try not to go savage and dint the hood . It will pop . One open lube up latch but also look to see if you need to adjust hood pins . Usually one turn down . Or up will correct the problem. Sometimes you gotta rebend the catch

@DisturbOne see my reply to UnderLockDown! Ty for your tip!

So, did you ever get the hood open?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@UnderLockDown @GovanDUNNY IT actually popped by itself the next morning!! It was weird because the latch inside the car to pop it was so loose the day before, felt broken.i had tried to pop hood several times, but just wouldn't. Next day I try, everything was ok! really strange lol!
GovanDUNNY · M
@Coralmist thats good Have you checked your oil and antifreeze and wiper wash fluid
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@GovanDUNNY my oil will need a bit, its about a half inch below full line, so halfway to low line. Wadher fluid all good. I need to check antifreeze, but a couple weeks ago it was good.
GovanDUNNY · M
Yeah what was the outcome ,dont leave us hanging

Do you have a manual?
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
Try having someone pull on the hood while you pull the latch next time it happens.
& If there's nobody with you, use something an inch or two in size, to wedge it under your hood nice & tight, then pull the latch

@ChiefJustWalks Appreciate that..im so happy it managed to pop overnight on its own and the latch inside car works too..so weird lol!
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
The cable may be stuck or broken. You'll likely need to take it to a mechanic.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DunningKruger Luckily it popped by itself next day!! And after latch to open hood was very loose many times, it was also fine next day..strange😯
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Coralmist "No, Mommy! Don't take me to the nasty mechanic! I'll be good! I promise!"
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DunningKruger Ikr!!! Lol😂
Look in the grille at the front with a torch - do you see a thin cable that looks like the brake cable for a bicycle???
GovanDUNNY · M
How did it work out

@GovanDUNNY Ty for asking🦋
GovanDUNNY · M
@Coralmist if you had been driving before trying to open hood (bonnet) it could have been the heat of engine made it stick and it opened after the car cooled down.Did you sort engine oil and antifreeze and put some wd40 on hood catch under hood
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@GovanDUNNY Oh maybe thats why it wasnt opening yesterday. But weird that the latch to pop it, inside car, had felt so loose too..now its fine. No haven't yet put oil on hood catch yet but will soon. Ty Govan🙂
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
I see you managed to pop it. How did the oil change go?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@SinlessOnslaught Oh it didnt really need oil change, I just need to add a quart oil, which will tomorrow ☀️
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@Coralmist Ohhhh okay!
GovanDUNNY · M
Take it to a mechanic it will take seconds to do
GovanDUNNY · M

Experienced33 · M

It needs oil.
Mine opened and wouldn't re-latch when I tried to close it.

Just answered you in the other thread. Push down on the very end of the hood by the latch
Glassysky · 26-30, M
