Do you like public transport?

Oh they've altered the timetable the 24X bus doesn't stop at that bus stop anymore and there's no 11.30 bus from Pontypridd if you can put up with buses not turning up or not stopping then yes they provide a useful service.
popmol · 26-30, M
@senghenydd ooh yeah thats a good thing! green electric trains and buses are awesome
senghenydd · M
@popmol I have a number of road vehicles however I caught two buses yesterday I must say it was a very pleasant experience relaxing watching the other passengers and enjoying scenery outside the bus. Britain is going for green public transport in a big way, soon all public transport will be green.
popmol · 26-30, M
@senghenydd thats awesome! it will be so much better for the environment!
I've used it several times, but no I don't like it. I bike a lot during the summer and on nice days.

Do you?
popmol · 26-30, M
@Promises i do use it but i mainly use my bike too. so only public transportation in a pinch!
@Promises lol I was just thinking I am getting to that age where I need them again! I actually started biking again. And boyee, what they say about riding a bike again is funny! I was wobbly, but I am getting my balance back!
popmol · 26-30, M
@Promises ooh has it been such a long time?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I use our local buses quite frequently but my choice is based more on the purpose of the journey than any particular like or dislike.

Very occasionally I travel by train but for long journeys I take very infrequently anyway. I could equally well drive and more often I do; but if staying in a particular area for a week or so will use the buses or trains there.
popmol · 26-30, M
@ArishMell ooh thats lovely :)
popmol · 26-30, M
@TryingtoLava is the traffic bad? or bad roads?
@popmol traffic
popmol · 26-30, M
@TryingtoLava aah well better to take the bus then!
When not my bike, I only use public transport (having a car in Stockholm is useless) and it's absolutely fine. More expensive than I'd like but it works very well indeed.
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
Not so much. I used public transport for decades. Spent many hours, waiting for buses and trains that were late or didn't show up at all. Sitting on dirty chairs next to very smelly people. Not very pleasant. It felt absolutely great when I finally got a car.
@Tamara68 And in a place like NYC there is increased danger from crime. The rise of Uber and eventually autonomous ride share are making it unnecessary.
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@LamontCranston I only used public transport in the Netherlands and Belgium. Much safer than New York, I assume. I guess Uber has some risks too, but I have no experience with it.
@Tamara68 I am glad that you now have the optionality the car gives you.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
Yes. It's a comparatively trouble-free way of getting around, and with the old person's discount, it's not too expensive.
popmol · 26-30, M
@supersnipe aah yeah you get old person discount! how nice!
In general, yes. In NYC, the subway is often quicker than a car. In Paris, the subway system is spectacular, and free on days when the air quality goes below a threshold.

LemonDemon · F
i prefer riding my bike, but good public transport is essential
popmol · 26-30, M
@LemonDemon i completely understand but i prefer the bus when its raining!
Matt85 · 36-40, M
i do. i like anything that is helping reduce our carbon emissions.
popmol · 26-30, M
@Matt85 yeah thats good!
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I haven`t been on public transit in years and if I did i`d need to start carrying a gallon of hand sanitizer.
popmol · 26-30, M
@Degbeme it can't be that bad?
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
I do and I take it when necessary
popmol · 26-30, M
@Jenny1234 lovely :)
Cigarguy · M
I use Uber alot
Cigarguy · M
@popmol I plan for it each month. They are times when I'm to tired to drive and I don't want to risk falling asleep at the wheel or something.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Cigarguy I used to work for a company in which some technical and sales staff occasionally had to travel abroad on its behalf. They were instructed to use airport taxis between home and airport rather than risk driving when tired and "jet-lagged".

It is actually an offence now in the UK (maybe other countries too) to drive while too tired to be safe. If you start feeling tired you are to find somewhere safe to park for a rest.
popmol · 26-30, M
@Cigarguy well its good you do it for safety!
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
Noooo i haven't ridden on public transportation in over 30 years
popmol · 26-30, M
@AngelUnforgiven dang! thats impressive to avoid it that long
wackidywack · 26-30
I certainly dont hate it
popmol · 26-30, M
@wackidywack thats good :)
Elessar · 31-35, M
I can assure you public transportation is hella nicer than maneuvering your own boat in the mess that is Venice canals
popmol · 26-30, M
@Elessar haha that makes sense!
Porcupine · 31-35, F
Can be useful in a pinch but very unreliable for me
popmol · 26-30, M
@Porcupine why is it so unreliable?
Porcupine · 31-35, F
@popmol just poor service
popmol · 26-30, M
@Porcupine aah unfortunate ;(
YoMomma ·
It’s useful
popmol · 26-30, M
@YoMomma yeah it is!
tenente · 36-40, M
sometimes. most days i just walk
tenente · 36-40, M
@popmol @MasterLee
everything is in walking distance, if you have the time.

truth!! 👐😂
tenente · 36-40, M
@popmol
are they long walks?

my iPhone says yesterday 32,644 steps. it adds up over the day. trying to drive in NYC is hell
popmol · 26-30, M
@tenente thats pretty impressive! its tough to get to 10000 steps and you do triple that!
