1962 Ford Fairlane. It was my brother's first car, and when he had more or less driven it into the ground, I inherited it. I used to call her "Old Bessie". You had to talk nice to Old Bessie to get her to start on a cold winter morning.
@Musicman I have no idea. It had been leased prior to my father buying it, and had belonged to some sort of company...the 8 cylinders was unusual, for sure.
I can't remember first car I drove. First few years of my driving were all illegal. We had a Peugeot 206 that was stolen and on cloned plates I remember driving through Sydenham High Street at 60mph with bits falling off left right and centre.
Legally when I finally passed my test first car I bought and owned was my red mini one. Drive that into the ground eventually. Got £200 from scrap guy in the end for it 🥲
1980 buick century. Great highschool car, could fit 2 hugh coolers in the trunk with plenty of room to spare and very comfortable bench seats in the front and back so although didn't recline well, could still catch a good nights sleep. Also looked like a cop car at the time too
1983 Saab 900 in early 2000's when I was mid 30's. Never had a car b4 that and only got my driver's licence when I was 27. Used to drive around an l300 van my first ex owned at the time.
I've had two cars, the first an incredibly old volvo that my father somehow managed to drive to my driveway where it eventually got towed from for scrap without ever being driven, seriously it was a wreck. The second a blue Datsun Cherry. Again from my father, I did have a few lessons in this before it too went to the great scrapyard in the sky. I never did learn to drive, life got in the way.
First road worthy vehicle I drove was a 1950 Chevy one ton truck. I was 10. I took my license in a 1053 Chevy car. It was older than I was but it ran great. The first car I owned was a Chevette. Nice little car based on the European Opel design.
