Do you use public transportation?

badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Yes. Next week I'm taking AMTRAK down the California coast.
@badminton Very cool ! I used to ride it to Sacramento. Now that my friend has moved back there, I’ll be doing it again. Those trains are so nice.

I live in the USA

I am on the east coast---use the trains from time to time . when i lived in the south and on the west coast no, because they didn't really exist in any meaninful way.

i had 2 weeks 3 decades ago where I had to take a bus to work because my car broke down and my commute for a job that was 15 miles away was 2.5 hours each way.

It is almost as if Americans are punished for not purchasing a car, auto insurance drivers license. The dept of transportatoin plus the dept of public saftey (at the state level) work hard to maintain that status quo even at the expense of the econonmy (it is at the expense of the economy but that is another question / response)

We used it this past Monday. Our subway ride both directions was normal, lots of riders for holiday Monday. We took a passenger only ferry, the out bound trip was excellent and enjoyable. The terminal at the far end was far enough from the town center that there was a free shuttle.

We decided to walk back to the ferry from town. The routing was quite long. The return ferry was at capacity. We enjoyed the experience but to do it again would only happen if we didn't need a vehicle once at the other side.

Not usually but I have.

I used to take the train to ballgames but they suspended gameday service on our line.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
(Southern England here) Yes. When it makes sense I take the train or the bus. I am retired so the bus is free and the train is reduced fare. The train is the more comfortable option. We're quite well served because in a fairly densely populated area.

I used to enjoy driving, and still use a car. But it is not as pleasant as it was years ago - too much traffic, and the roads have deteriorated over recent decades.

LilPrincess · 41-45, F
Used to but not since I got to drive again
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I live in a small town, where there is no public transportation.

But in the past, in New York City, in Boston, and in Madison, Wisconsin, I used subways or busses all the time.
Wizardry · 46-50, M
Use it when on holiday. But when not on holiday sometimes. Only if I have something big a bulky like lots of groceries or if the weather isn’t good for biking

Houston doesn't have much public transportation, and I don't know how to use what they have. It's one reason I avoid going there unless I have to...like today.
When I was younger but I haven't taken the bus since I was around 21. I can't really say I miss the sweaty smell and homeless people lol
Not often because most of what I need is within range of my mobility scooter. But if I need to go further, yes.
Ducky · 31-35, F
Only when I've been in another city without a rental car.
Fluffybull · F
I use the train if I'm visiting big cities for the day.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Yes, whenever I need to get somewhere in my home city.
mooncrest02 · 31-35, F

Julien · 36-40, M

Ceinwyn · 26-30, F

DealingWithTrouble · 36-40, M
Whenever I can.
come2gether · 51-55, M
Only if traveling in Europe because it's safe there. Here in the USA the only public transport I'll use anymore is lyft/uber. Or, if at Disney world, their public transport.
Orca4950 · 70-79, M
I always defined public transport as the transport funded by the different government organizations.

Airlines and inter city bus and train services are usually "for profit"
Areebah · 46-50, F
Besides air travel, not too often. There was a stretch in my career where it was convenient for me to commute into work on the bus.
Anniedlr · 26-30, F
If I’m in London I usually use the Underground aka the Tube.🙂🐼🥢
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M

Lilyb · 22-25, F

Oster1 · M

pancakeslam · 41-45, M
no I drive or walk
My suv is having issues again, so now I'm having to rely on the town's sketchy transit system that only runs 11 hours a day monday through friday.
