In the united States, what's your price for gas?

Ours just went up again on the east coast to $3.35. One place is at $3.39. This is getting ridiculous.

For anyone else wondering, it used to be $2.69 on average that was before 2020.
That's what happens when you vote Democrats into office.
So far it's better in the southwest - $2.99 to $3.09.
twiigss · M
@Mamapolo2016 there's a gas station here called Carroll, and that gas is around $3.09 too.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@Mamapolo2016 About the same here in the Fl. panhandle.

Most of the world gets by just fine on expensive fuel. It actually promotes better behaviour because it encourages alternative energy, smaller vehicles and fewer trips. I'm willing to bet that they talk about fuel prices less too.
Offthetop · 51-55, M
@saragoodtimes Bike, bus, combine trips, go electric or smaller engine. I pay $4.75 but I drive very little and never fret about gas prices. My next car will be electric.
@Offthetop bike, bus, never. don't ever see us buying an electric car
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@Offthetop In many parts of the USA unfortunately biking and public transportation are reckless, health hazardous or just plan very inefficient.
Usually in the South,Southwest,Midwest of the country.

A couple burritos from Sheetz - around 5 bucks I suppose.
@Keeper gets BC in my opinion
twiigss · M
@Keeper Sheetz is okay. I usually go to Rutter's though for gas.
saw $3.35 this morning but my car isn't thirsty today
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I last paid $3.09, in NJ, we are in MD and it is in the $3.30s, per gallon. Luckily one of our cars is a plug in electric, I don't even remember my last gas fill-up. The computer says that I am averaging 130 mpg!
@samueltyler2 and how would that work for a woman who doesn't know what a Phillips screwdriver is. Alan asked me to get him one out of the tool box but not one answered when I called Phillip
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes ha, ha. Why would it make a difference if a man or woman? The technicians simply drop the old batteries and install charged ones.
@samueltyler2 OK as long as it's not a DIY operation
akindheart · 61-69, F
ours is close to 4.00
acpguy · C
In the upper midwest it goes for any where from $3.29 to 3.69 depending if it is an interstate highway station or a farm town with the interstate and college towns being the highest as they have the tourists and college kids trapped.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
$3.09 a gallon
@Keepitsimple the fear of the pump not shutting off when it's full and having to drive home smelling like a mechanic
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@saragoodtimes it shut off but I was scared if it didn’t what I would do cause I was clueless. Now I know it’s easy. 👍
@Keepitsimple I can do it in an emergency. fortunately I'm very good at swiping a credit card
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
Man. I thought india would be cheaper.

It sounds like we're running on liquid gold. It's about 5.18$(US Dollars) for a gallon in the state I'm in.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
It’s $2.73 for the type with ethanol added to it at the nearby 7-11 store, about $3 for the type without ethanol at the lowest price place around here. Last year the lowest priced non-ethanol gas here was about $1.20 a gallon at it’s very lowest.
twiigss · M
@MethDozer 87 in the US is considered regular, I think 89 is mid grade and premium is 93.
MethDozer · M
@twiigss yes, I know. 91 also gets marked premium to though. All I was saying is non-ethanol is always a premium grade octane rating around here. There's no 87 or 89 that isn't e15 or e10.
twiigss · M
@MethDozer I know here I've heard stuff like, well you want ethanol gas if the car is newer, because newer cars are designed to use or to burn the ethanol gas whereas your older classic cars from the 1950s or the 1960s etc. are going to want to use non-ethanol gas.

I was talking to a coworker about it and they also said about the 91 which I didn't know anything about.
Elessar · 26-30, M
$0.88/litre lmao, it costs more than twice as much here in Europe
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Stereoguy Ah no, here diesel has always been cheaper than gas(oline?) as far as I recall. We drive shorter distances than you guys, on average, I suppose; but yeah, people who drive more are generally going with GPL, LNG (which is what gets called "gas" here), or more recently electric/hybrid afaik

Elessar · 26-30, M
@Stereoguy The main problem with diesel over here is that, especially if you have a older car, there are plenty of places (cities, mid/big sized municipalities) that you aren't allowed to drive through.

Technically also gasoline, but it's usually cars from 15-20+ years ago that are subjected to such limitations.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
$3.19 this morning😕
Weekend is coming

In case you're wondering, 2020 is a statistical outlier. There was a glut caused by Covid, causing prices to dip.

Demand is back up to levels higher than pre-pandemic. It's market economics, not rocket science.
exexec · 61-69, C
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
Before the pandemic- $3.49/gal.
For a few weeks it was as high as $3.69/gal.

After the pandemic? $3.49 a gallon. It went as high as $3.69 for a while. It's not quite so high, now.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
$2.65 in the DFW area. That's for regular unleaded.

3.35

Gas has been high this year. Oil companies slowing production to punish people for the closing of that pipeline that never should have been allowed in the first place and has zero actual effect.
