Is he expecting one result of the election being such a massive rejection of that war that he has no choice but to admit it was wrong, end the fighting and bring everyone home?

As for his openly propagandist claim that fuel prices will immediately "plummet", they might drop a bit but not rapidly, probably not to their pre-war levels, neither within the USA nor in other countries. Perhaps he knows something about future crude-oil prices and the products' trading; information to which most of us are not privy....

Seriously though, I fear the USA risks losing credibility and trust to such an extent it will take years to recover.

@ArishMell It's one thing to play games with foreign regimes that may or may not 'play the game' the way you do.

It's another to regularly lie to those you desperately need a vote from in the midterms.
