@CopperCicada that’s good

@CopperCicada
I've encounted JW's several times and found them just as respectful.
Actually, I have found Mormons to be some of the most reasonable missionaries I have ever encountered.
I haven't encountered many Mormons but those I have give me cause to concur with you view. I worked with one a few years ago and never had any problems with him, he certainly never tried to proselytize.I've encounted JW's several times and found them just as respectful.

Yes, I do.

I believe in a higher power but I don't believe any one religion has it completely right. I believe that all religious are an attempt at understanding that higher power.

God is by definition unknowable. For anyone to claim they know God well enough to base an entire religion around it is the height of arrogance.

I do believe in God but I'm not a believer in church
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
I have to admit he's trying to modernise the church@Konicha605
@Longpatrol can you explain steps he has taken to modernise the church? not familiar with it really
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
He's been pushing for a reformation of the rather opaque church finances, and more accepting of gays in the church though not to the point of having gay clergy, he's set up a number of commissions to look at the child sex abuse crisis in the church. @mysteryespresso

I'm drawn more to the pagan traditions, celebrating solstices and equinoxes, the moon cycle, and nature itself, but haven't committed to any particular path. I just feel that there isn't one true path or religion out there that can be laid out for a person to follow completely. It's more a personal path we each have to take, and it's different for everyone.
Sharon · F
@FaeLuna I attended a Pagan event some years ago where Pagans of various tradition spoke about their beliefs. I clearly remember one speaker boldly announcing "I know that my path is the right one...". There was a shocked silence before he added - "...for me."
I can't now remember if it were he or one of the others who said that, if there be an ultimate creator, there can only be one, it just chooses to appear to each of us differently.

@Sharon I would love to go to a pagan festival some time. They always seem like so much fun, and I'd love to talk with people that share a common belief and that everyone's path is different is a huge part of that. Seems way more open than the few times I've gone to a church service and just sat in anxiety the whole time not knowing the ritual and worrying about doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Trying to place myself in a religious pigeonhole has always been difficult. Once, I even joined the Unitarian church, because ALL beliefs are respected and allowed in their church...even atheists...but unfortunately I am not personally enlightened enough to accept an atheist in my church.
I believe in God. That is one thing I know for sure. I believe in setting up conditions where ALL people can receive His blessings, and I work toward that.

To me there's no god or my 2 little boys would still be alive. To me it's just some big cult.

Anybody can believe whatever they wish as long as they don't try to convert me!!
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
It really depends what you mean by god. There are a lot of interpretations.
Konicha605 · 22-25, F
@KuroNeko oh, i understand. it's having faith in something at the end!
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
@Konicha605 that would make science just another religion though. Plenty have faith enough in that after all. Not that theres anything wrong with that, we just have more faith in things that we personally don't know a huge amount about than we might realise.
Konicha605 · 22-25, F
@KuroNeko well, it depends. science is based on evidences and if u think there may be something that can't be seen or measured yet, then u can either hope it exists or you have faith it exists, even tho there are no evidences. that's different to me
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M

Your pole is making all kinds of assumptions. At least put an "other" in there!
BTW I am wiccan! So your pole doesn't apply!

@Soossie that's right. extremism doesn't bring anywhere and it's anti-religious itself
