Do you think cops will still do speed traps now that Google has moved the ways notifications about them over to Google maps?

Everyone is ganna know when there is a cop sitting on the side of the road clocking people. Thank God for Google and hopefully this makes it so much harder for cops.

I guess the other way of looking at it is people shouldn't speed because it puts others at risk.
Sorry no... Not clear at all

I have no idea what point you're trying to make ... I don't get where you were going with any of this

😕
Ynotisay · M
@Llort Yeah. I'll tell you where I'm going. Away. Out.

@Llort It's very very simple...Newton discovered it. An object travelling at 90mph hitting another object will have a cascading effect on yet more objects in the immediate vicinity than one travelling at 65mph, and from my considerable experience of travelling on the I-80, I-5, I-99, and I-50 it is my view (Having learned to drive in the UK) that most drivers don't look any further forward than the top of their steering wheel, a lot are on their phones, a lot are busy chatting away without any consideration of anything else around, in front or behind them.

Combine this dearth of basic road craft with tail gating, weaving from lane to lane because they're the most important person on the road, and they just HAVE to be in front of the vehicle in front all travelling at 80 mph plus, what can possibly go wrong?

Fun fact...The death rate of road collisions in CA is more than that of the UK, and CA has half the population.

So when you say that you think cops are being unreasonable in trapping the fuckwits, consider all the stats. And it isn't YOU who has to dig the bodies out or go and tell the next of kin their loved one isn't coming home because some selfish twat was so self important they had to drive into them rather than drive behind for a few miles.

The cops are just doing their job. 🤷‍♂️
SW-User
@Ryanoliver2011 I'm sure most cops have more guts than you ever will.
@SW-User no one can have a nice conversation I swear
@SW-User from my experience... Cops will pull people over with out of state plates for a lot of those activities. Those types of searching create more profiling and crap like that.

And I'm sorry, I can't justify some guy waiting to clock someone going to fast because there is a small chance they might catch someone doing something else.

In a day where cars are safer, roads are safer, why do we keep lowering speed limits?
Yeah, how dare they stop drunk drivers from killing innocent motorists ! 😳
Eh... It's kinda like property taxes. It meant to motivate people to do something with assets... Not just let them sit when others could use it... Unfortunately it doesn't work most the time... Ill agree there

@Llort I just think they could do it and enforce it differently. I'm not against taxation, but I don't like the way it's done here.
Much agreed

Anyway... I feel this conversation has ran it's course

Cheers mate. Hopefully see you around

I drive the speed limit so I don't need to worry.
Ryanoliver2011 · 26-30, M
Yes bcz pigs are gonna do what pigs do. It’s like how about instead of just sitting there waiting to catch someone speeding why not do something that’s actually useful like busting hookers and drug deals but nope my tax dollars pay for some pig to just sit in his car doing nothing
@Ryanoliver2011 and to help cover up shooting black people
Ryanoliver2011 · 26-30, M
@Llort yea that too. It’s not just blacks that they do that to tho. Whites too
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
Stop enforcing all laws.

No need to pay people to enforce them. Lower taxes.

Everyone wins.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Llort
So do you think if someone is commiting a crime against me I should be limited to having someone else pursue the criminal?
Go ahead if you feel confident your forensic team is better than the police's or you have the ability to get warrants to arrest, or warrants to inspect property and have no risk legally to yourself. And do let us know how you get a court sorted out in short measure.
I get the feeling you're a cop or something.

That's not what I meant.

If I'm being robbed or attack I should have the right to pursue.

As it stands, people can still be arrest for attacking the criminal in many situation.

But for some reason, police shoot to kill and everyone is ok with that.

Besides, I feel like you really don't understand anarchism.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Llort Nope, I'm not a cop. And I didn't say you shouldn't pursue an attacking criminal. I haven't experienced anarchism, though I do know what it is.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
There are websites with lists of speed traps in each city & state
@cherokeepatti yeah but not it's ganna be right there built into the most used map app. I might never driver with it off again
cheesenpickles · 26-30, F
I think they will.

Notifications are great but they are not always correct.
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
It won’t change a thing
Really? Why on Earth would they do that???
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP because hopefully they won't work nearly as often
@Llort what good's that gonna do? It'll just encourage speeding
