I lived in NC for a year, and loved it. Not sure why that person said NC is late on getting things. One of the most advanced business parks is in Raleigh, so, that's just odd.

But you have amazing beaches and gorgeous mountains, and loads of beautiful lakes. It's amazing there
@come2gether I ran into a security guard while I was sitting on a bench outside of the airport maybe he was lying to create conversation but I was shocked to hear the disadvantages of living in NC 🤷

@Souls Well, I must say, I didn't experience any sort of disadvantaged living or opportunity

I like Asheville NC but also interested in Greenville SC - not sure if it's what you're looking for but those places are interesting to me....
@fun4us2b That's young, but i will look into this

@Souls You are too kind 🥰 Good luck with your search!

Massachusetts, where I used to live, has a both an income tax and a sales tax. That should be factored into any such consideration.

North Dakota is a nice state but way to cold in the winter.
@JackHoff oh no, it's extremely hot out here you picked the hottest state
JackHoff · 46-50, M
@Souls I live north in the mountains. Cooler up here.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@JackHoff We have family in Fargo and we visit quit often. They like so much they plan to retire in place. Three universities and a very diverse economy to keep it vibrant.
Yay I'm in the top 3

You okay? Long time no see
@SinlessOnslaught Philly is congest and high cost of living I did consider this before moving to GA. Yeah, I am fine I haven't been posting much due to how busy I am with school and work
@Monaschandroff86 I might consider at this point

On your list, North Dakota has the lowest state tax rate ... on other lists, Fargo and Grand Forks consistently rank among the best places to live in America.

Winter climate is a bit harsh at times, but that rarely distracts from the quality of life there.

Texas has no personal income tax. There are some small cities with affordable housing and low crime rates. Downside: crazy politics.
@exexec Is it open carry in Texas?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Souls Carrying a gun for some is a fashion accessory. Don't be fooled by "no income tax.". Property taxes are severe. High school football stadiums and toys for the cops are expensive.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@Souls yes it’s called constitutional carry. Any state with a major metropolitan area has high crime there but overall numbers are low.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Smaller cities in Texas are nice. Avoid the big ones like Houston and Dallas.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
@Heartlander exactly. I was in Poteet just a few weeks ago for a strawberry festival, minutes away from San Antonio
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Mudkip @Mudkip we have family and friends scattered across Texas. I believe they all abandoned the big cities in favor of smaller communities.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
@Heartlander yeah smaller communities are much better in my opinion. A lot of crime in bigger cities
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
I would pick KY or NC fromntjat list.
@Subsumedpat A family member was living in NC and decided to move back to NJ. I had to go to NC for an eight hour layover and one person mentioned they get everything late such as technology, clothing, etc. not sure how true that is. I also had time to stop in NC at one point due to how long it took me to drive out of there the streets seem the same as GA but quieter and less traffic on the roads

States with high tax rates usurp the taxing powers of subordinate jurisdictions. This undermines bottom up government. Takes away the ability of local government to tax and serve the people needs where they live, work and experience life.

The hypocrisy of the US left. From one side of their mouth they proclaim that it takes a village to raise a child. From the other side of their mouth they demand higher and higher taxes at the federal and state levels, stripping the village of the financial power needed to help raise their children.

@Stereoguy I am petrified of moving to Florida due to the weather and creepy crawlers. I am originally from Jersey moved to Atlanta two years ago during that period I moved my mother here and I am now at the point of searching for another state but I am not sure where at this point. The only thing keeping me in Georgia is the love for my job and low tax rate.
@Stereoguy ya but its florida if they gave out gold nuggets and free kittens to move there id still say no i mean no offense to you personally stereoguy
