So how exactly would that work? Thinking covid is a hoax is a disease you must distance yourself from? Curious. If you said putting all those with covid on an island so the rest of us could party that would make sense but that isn't what you said. You make it sound like the belief that covid is a hoax is the disease.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@questionWeaver Just a bit confusing.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@hippyjoe1955 People believing it's a hoax and respecting the lockdown do no harm, except to themselves. People believing it's a hoax and breaking lockdown rules will facilitate the spread and void the efforts of responsible people, hence I totally get why some would make pressure on making them unable to cause further harm.
InTenses · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 Ah, it's because SW isn't a place to write a book (or have civilized discussion apparently). Statement of the problem and proposal have to fit on the question field, or nobody will read it. So it's a parody, but on the surface everybody would get what they want. Except that's not what they want. Anyway, it's, uh, "interesting" to observe the lively debate... and several accounts that should be blocked (But they probably have several).

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

Lol... priceless
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I mean, you believe this crap for real? 🤣

Social distancing party?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User You think we can't? We've been holding parties since day #1 here

@Elessar I never said that. I was asking for a clarification. 😉I'm all about people keeping their covid cooties away from me.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User Oh me too. Just saying that everything is possible lol
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
How do we know it is or isn't a hoax? How do we know that everyone who dies during the pandemic is dying *directly* because of sars-cov-2 and not via an indirect effect (ie. causing something else to overwhelm the body because it's trying to deal with the new covid infection)? Nobody disputes the thing's existance, but there are lots of corona viruses and lots of rhino viruses all naturally occuring that (like bacteria) we're exposed to contiually from the natural environment of our planet.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@zonavar68 It does, what else would they die of? With those numbers? Flu, hypertension, diabetes, old people, and whatever else existed also the past year, and you can see from the curve above, they weren't as deadly. Above all, they exist in south and center Italy, unlike covid that spreads much less over there.

Spread from asymptomatic carriers is proven by science, governments (at least those that have mentally sane representants) logically base their policies on scientific data. Everyone avoids getting in contact with anyone barely sneezing or coughing and yet it's still spreading, logically from asymptomatics. As a plus, asymptomatic people test PCR positive, and the PCR picks up viral RNA in the surrounding environment as well. That's easier to demonstrate than, I dunno, a plot against mankind in which countries that could barely tolerate one another (US, China, European countries) cooperated under a single secret government for whatever sci-fi dystopian reasons.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@Elessar Does sars-cov-2 infection *directly* make people die? What is the mechanism of the virus that causes the deaths of it is directly causing them, rather than covid causing other problems due to the body suddenly having to 'divert' all the lymphatic system's resources into dealing with the 'new enemy' it's acquired?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@zonavar68 No virus kills "directly", they're inanimate strands of either DNA or RNA enclosed in a capsule-like structure with proteins outside that enter your cells for replicating, and while doing so they can cause damage. And no matter how the damage happens, I don't get how it could be a "hoax".
Cause we outnumber you
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Like a pumpkin cheesecake island?

Lol, the irony😅
TexChik · F
Nobody said the virus was a hoax ... it’s just not the world killer the libs want you to believe it is nor is it anyone’s fault other than China’s . The hoax is blaming Trump for it ... as we knew you libtards would
And if nothing happens. And no one gets sick.. will you tards grow the fuck up?
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

Not one person can tell us what metric we should use to consider this serious .... or over.

It is so over-blown, they have lost track of the lie on this one.
Summerbreeze45 · 46-50, F
@questionWeaver can I just say something and respectfully because although I see both sides I can also tell you that I have seen that part of it not being hoax. The part where for weeks over 700 people died a day in my state. I've seen my mother pass from this while not being able to be by her side as she did. I've lived through the terrible moment of not being able to find a funeral home for 12 hours to pick up her body because of the backlog. Please and I again I say this respecting your opinion, but try to put yourself in the shoes of those that have seen the worst of it.
@Summerbreeze45

I am sorry for your loss and the trauma around it.

Respectfully ... over 32 million unemployed parents are wondering tonight, how to pay the mortgage this week, what they can cut back on to still feed the kids, how long they can hold out, if they should move, where the car payment is coming from

... and they see empty hospitals ... an unmoved mortality rate ... and Governors pointing out that abortion clinics are essential, but cancer screening is not ... that seed stores are closed ... but liquor stores are open ...that people are arrested for walking on a beach ... but crowded infected subway systems are okay ... that people a hundred miles from a big city ... need to quarantine like the big city... yet no infection is anywhere nearby or likely to harm anyone but them ... if it does.

As to same shoes ... I just went through 30 days of fighting for my friends life against COVID19 ... around the clock, to rescue her ... it was publicized up and down the east coast.

We were successful

In that fight I discovered first hand more than a few absurdities.

I did go on the air in London, to explain how they could use plasma to save lives.

My fans have driven the setup of plasma banks, in two states.

I am currently working with a fan, to save another life, in Michigan.

None of that is a hoax.

But, I must be honest with myself ... the numbers and science does not support quarantining the healthy anywhere in the US .. The vulnerable are the ones who need the protection ... and the the virus transport methods should be stopped.
Elessar · 26-30, M
If only they didn't spread the disease to normal people, I'd even encourage them to go out and let natural selection do its best.
graphite · 61-69, M
Not too many people think it's a hoax, but a lot of people are wondering if there is overreaction going on. What good is it to take people's livelihoods away and destroy their lives to "save" them from this? If this goes on too long, people will be sheltering in place in tents under the highway overpass, because that's where they will be living. A lot of people have recovered from this virus.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@graphite I wouldn't say it's overestimated. People just forgot we were filling churches with coffins and taking them 600km away for cremation with military convoys because there was no room for them anymore. Then believe whatever you want, I get that for many the economy is more important than human life, but actually they're interdependent. Reopen to soon and you'll be forced to lockdown again, causing even more economical havoc.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
You can’t have a party. That would go against social distancing rule. God for bid!! Lol
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
Sounds like a plan to me.
I say we send them to the moon without oxygen.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BetweenKittensandRiots We can use a regular island and nuke it, no? 🤔
@Elessar Why? precious resource.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BetweenKittensandRiots Well, getting them to the moon is probably more expensive.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
okay. we'll enjoy outside while you stay home and avoid the daylight. Vampires
