Why don't we just get all the people who think COVID-19 is a hoax, put them together on a dessert island, and hold a big party without them?

How do we know it is or isn't a hoax? How do we know that everyone who dies during the pandemic is dying *directly* because of sars-cov-2 and not via an indirect effect (ie. causing something else to overwhelm the body because it's trying to deal with the new covid infection)? Nobody disputes the thing's existance, but there are lots of corona viruses and lots of rhino viruses all naturally occuring that (like bacteria) we're exposed to contiually from the natural environment of our planet.

@zonavar68 I can answer you with some data - these are the total deaths in north Italy (top left panel) vs the rest of Italy (top right), October 2019 to April 2020:

@Elessar Still doesn't answer the important question about whether people who die are dying *directly* from sars-cov-2 infection or not. Nobody talks about that. There is no dispute that there have been a lot of deaths and people getting ill from it, but what is their actual cause of death and is that cause directly due to covid or an indirect result of covid? Governments would have you believe that everyone else who isn't sick or dying is an asymptomatic carrier and use that as a primary fear-based driver to force social distancing, contact-tracing, and other measures.

@zonavar68 It does, what else would they die of? With those numbers? Flu, hypertension, diabetes, old people, and whatever else existed also the past year, and you can see from the curve above, they weren't as deadly. Above all, they exist in south and center Italy, unlike covid that spreads much less over there.

Spread from asymptomatic carriers is proven by science, governments (at least those that have mentally sane representants) logically base their policies on scientific data. Everyone avoids getting in contact with anyone barely sneezing or coughing and yet it's still spreading, logically from asymptomatics. As a plus, asymptomatic people test PCR positive, and the PCR picks up viral RNA in the surrounding environment as well. That's easier to demonstrate than, I dunno, a plot against mankind in which countries that could barely tolerate one another (US, China, European countries) cooperated under a single secret government for whatever sci-fi dystopian reasons.

@Elessar Does sars-cov-2 infection *directly* make people die? What is the mechanism of the virus that causes the deaths of it is directly causing them, rather than covid causing other problems due to the body suddenly having to 'divert' all the lymphatic system's resources into dealing with the 'new enemy' it's acquired?

@zonavar68 No virus kills "directly", they're inanimate strands of either DNA or RNA enclosed in a capsule-like structure with proteins outside that enter your cells for replicating, and while doing so they can cause damage. And no matter how the damage happens, I don't get how it could be a "hoax".
