Tyrannical rule

AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
I have a friend who lives in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean and he told me today that there's an American warship in their waters. He's between the ship and Venezuela , caught in the middle on a small island. He said that people are panic buying and he sent me a message saying goodbye in case the war breaks out. He said, "If they drop bombs we are all dead." All I could do was say I'm sorry and pray that it doesn't happen.
lilylovesgaming1986 · 36-40, F
@AngelUnforgiven what I heard they are stopping drug ships from leaving the Caribbean. There isn't going to be a war there
gregloa · 61-69, M
@AngelUnforgiven
You’re probably in more danger from the cartels and drug runners than from any American war ship. They are there to stop them.

Last year was full of hospital and clinic appointments and this year it's dwindled down to none.

I don't mind being 'forgotten' if it's a genuine error but it worries me how I've gone from diagnosis; medication issued and physical treatment to nothing with no clear explanation as to why.

And I have a brain and the ability to try and get answers.
I feel genuine worry for all those who don't have the tech or knowledge or skills to be able to do the same

The rise of authoritarianism in liberal democracies is scaring me.

@helenS Quite!

With Japan electing Sanae Takaichi, a hard line conservative who may want to resurrect the Empire of Japan, I'm concerned that she may want to ally with Tяump an Netanyahu to form the 21st century "Axis Powers."
Do not put anything past these right wing conservative extremists.
We must however, wait to see what Sanae Takaichi's policies actually look like.
gregloa · 61-69, M
@calicuz
🤣😂🤣😂
Likewise I’m sure.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@gregloa

If you were actually paying attention, we are the ones in full favor of going forward........ with or without you.
gregloa · 61-69, M
@calicuz
We are the ones huh. Going forward huh. 🤣😂

Prevalence of Ai.

How do we believe anything any more unless it's right in front of our eyes, if Ai can just generate any video or image almost indistinguishable from real life

I also hate to think what it does to art, that it removes the human spirit from the entertainment we eat up
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@caPnAhab nothing a little critical thinking could not sort.
pride49 · 31-35, M
@caPnAhab If ai can do that at least we should have kick ass movies that don't require a budget!
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@pride49 I'm not sure about that... I've heard Ai is expensive to power.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
Nothing really.

They have been trying to scare everyone with some horrible event since before I was ever born.
The rapture, word war 3, some economic collapse, some new virus (not just covid), world wide hunger, The end of physical currency (that was suppose to happen by 1995).

And today, the videos about "What is coming is worse than you can imagine." Then life goes on as always. Good times and bad. Ups and downs.

Around 1990 or 1991, they were pushing the idea of the rapture. I asked my dad, "If that is going to happen soon and we are all going to h3ll, why are people just living like nothing is going on? Like normal lives?"
All he said was, "Oh they have been saying that for 2,000 years."
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
Absolutely nothing. Some things make me angry but nothing makes me scared.

The rapid development of AI!
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@Nitedoc It is no where near as advanced as marketers want us to believe. You have heard the term "AI slop"
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@HoeBag I know, but it will be soon!

Democracy in which people remain wilfully ignorant or wedded to their tribe, then use their vote to marginalise and harm the interests of others.

Couldn’t have described leftist liberals better.

People VOTING for self proclaimed communists who promise free things.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Adeptlinguist I know, it was said when he was elected in 16 as well, the end of democratic values, also it was said when Biden was elected….its what they do here.
@FreeSpirit1 The world sees what he is actually doing. This is not hearsay.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Adeptlinguist I know, I just told you the exact same thing was said in 2016, it’s how politics operates now.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
The president of the United States is trying to get all trans people declared terrorists. It won't be long before he comes after the rest of the rainbow. No one seems to care.

- AI
- the revival of fascism
- the persistent scourge of idiocracy in a world that can no longer afford idiocy
- exponentially increasing reality denial
- pronatalism nonsense vs actual unchecked overpopulation exacerbating climate change
- the incessant drive to make a buck no matter the cost, even if it dooms future generations (thanks, capitalism)
