I agree, to a point. The whole cultural appropriation thing came about when said appropriation was used to make fun of, rag, insult, etc., certain cultures.

I think the confusion comes with exchange versus misappropriation. Cultural exchange is great and vital. I label misappropriation as deliberately taking from another culture as your own without credit, respect or using it as a mockery or stereotype.

Appropriation is when you like a culture's stuff but want to oppress or kill the people who created it. Such as liking Mexican food but wanting to imprison Mexicans.
